COLLEGE FOOTBALL PICKS WEEK 2 FT. OREGON VS MICHIGAN STATE

Welcome back College Football, I missed you. I am so excited for this season to start. Last year I took on Phil Steele’s College Football Picks challenge, and defeated arguably the greatest mind of College Football Analysts with a 116-34 record compared to Steele’s 111-39. This year I will take on the challenge again. Last Week, I got off to a bad start and picked Louisville to upset Auburn, which did not go down in the slightest.

    My Record: 8-2
    Phil’s Record: 9-1

No. 20 Boise State Broncos at BYU Cougars

    10:15 p.m., ESPN2

In a matchup of arguably the top 2 Power Five Teams in the nation Boise State travels to take on BYU. Before last week I would have picked the Cougars to pull off the upset but well, you know quarterback Taysom Hill and running back Jamal Williams are both injured and those two guys are two players you can not afford to lose, I think BYU will keep it close for a while, but eventually Boise State’s 17 returning starters come through in the clutch.

    The Pick: Boise State

No. 22 Arizona Wildcats at Nevada Wolf Pack

    7 p.m., CBS Sports Network

Last week Arizona defeated a young UTSA team by only 10 points, but the game wasn’t as close as the score suggested. Then again Nevada only beat FCS team UC Davis by 17. I think Arizona’s performance last week can be contributed to Scooby Wright’s injury, the team probably didn’t know how to respond but now they will have a week to prepare. Nevada keeps it close in one of the most thrilling games this Saturday, but in the end the Wildcats come out on top.

    The Pick: Arizona

Toledo Rockets at No. 18 Arkansas Razorbacks

    4 p.m., SEC Network

Last week Toledo’s game with Stony Brook was canceled at half time, where the Rockets held at 16-7 lead over a team that 90% of football fans probably thought was a high school team. The big problem for the Rockets last week was their offensive line, and will struggle against Arkansas’ front seven. This one is a easy pick, come on Phil at least give us a challenge!

    The Pick: Arkansas

No. 14 LSU Tigers at No. 25 Mississippi State Bulldogs

    9:15 p.m., ESPN

We go from a blowout to a game that I am thoroughly excited for, the number fourteen LSU Tigers travel to take on Mississippi State in a SEC West showdown. Last year Mississippi State jumped out to a 34-10 lead before eventually letting up 19 straight points but still getting a 34-29 victory against LSU in Death Valley. While Mississippi State has the edge at quarterback LSU trumps the Bulldogs on Defense and you know what they say about defense in the SEC West.

    The Pick: LSU

No. 7 Oregon Ducks at No. 5 Michigan State Spartans

    8 p.m., ABC

This is that fun type of game where you can make a case for either team to win and be totally right. Fun Fact: Michigan State’s only two losses last year were to the two teams that played in the title game, and while I think Vernon Adams is slightly over rated as a quarterback, and Michigan State has a much better defense than the Ducks.

    Pick: Michigan State

Western Michigan Broncos at Georgia Southern Eagles

    6 p.m., ESPN3

Western Michigan hung with Michigan State last week and ended up covering the spread. Georgia Southern Quarterback Kevin Ellison is suspended for this game and his backup, Favian Upshaw only hit 2 of 13 passes last week. I think this is a pretty easy one as I pick the Broncos to win.

    The Pick: Western Michigan

Miami (Ohio) Redhawks at Wisconsin Badgers

    Noon, ESPNU

Miami of Ohio was just 2-10 last year and their top passer, receiver, and rusher are all gone too. This should be a gigantic blow out win for the Wisconsin Badgers.

    The Pick: Wisconsin

No. 9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Virginia Cavaliers

    3:30 p.m., ABC

The number nine team in the country and the team that had arguably the best performance last week travels to Charlottesville to take on my Virginia Cavaliers. I think the Wa’hoos are better than they let on last week against stud Josh Rosen. Virginia will keep this one close for a while, but in the end the Irish will pull away and win.

    The Pick: Notre Dame

Oregon State Beavers at Michigan Wolverines

    Noon, ABC

Jim Harbaugh’s first home game as head coach at Michigan and they are taking on a under rated Oregon State team, who is led by Seth Collins, one of the best dual threats in the game ran for 152 last week. Oregon State will take an early lead but in the end Michigan, and it’s 100,000 + fans in attendance will win by double digits.

    The Pick: Michigan

Tulane Green Wave at No. 15 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

    3:30 p.m.,ESPN3

Georgia Tech has been on a roll as of late and steamrolled Alcorn State last week. Look for them to do the sam to a rebuilding Tulane team.

    The Pick: Georgia Tech
