In the college baseball tournament there are 64 teams those 64 teams divide into 16 groups of 4. Those 16 regionals are hosted by the 16 “1” seeds those 1 seeds are the teams you are seeing above. the 16 groups of 4 play double-elimination tournaments. The 1st round pairings are announced tomorrow at noon on ESPNU. There are also 8 “national seeds” that are announced noon on ESPNU thoose 8 national seeds are hosts of the super regionals the super regionals are a best of 3 series played between 2 regional winners. It is hosted by the team that is one of the 8 national seeds. If the national seed was eliminated then it is hosted by the higher seeded team. (the ncaa releases a list of the 64 teams ranked 1-64 on ncaa.com) the winners of the super regionals are divided into 2 groups of 4. Those 2 groups of four are in double-eliminations (just like the regionals) This round is hosted in Omaha, NE. The winners of the 2 groups play in a best of 3 series (just like the super regional) these games are also played in Omaha, NE

Let’s start bottom 3, 1-0 FSU. No on, 2 out and Joe McCarthy for UVa, Home-run over the left field wall that ties the game at 1. Bottom 5th 2 on, 2 out for Uva Brandon Leibrandt looking for revenge and he strikes out McCarthy! top of the 6th 2-1 FSU 2 on 2 out Casey Smit hits one into left center which drives in D.J. Stewart and Stephen McGee. That makes it 4-1 FSU. Lets resume bottom of the 8th 4-3 FSU. Mike Papi singles to right and Kenny Towns comes home all the way from 1st questionable call at the plate, umpire calls Towns safe 4-4! Let’s skip ahead to the bottom of the 11th 2 out and Jameis Winston gets Brandon Downes to fly out.  Bottom 12th now men on 1st and 2nd for UVa and Kenny Towns going,going, gone! walk-off 3 run homer for Towns! Uva wins 7-4.

WOW! what a tournament it has been so far ! Georgia Tech came back from down 2 to beat FSU (#7) in the 9th, VT’s Chad Pinder hit a Grand Slam in a 10-1 Destruction of UVa (#6), Virginia’s Scott Silverstien pitched 8 2/3 innings and only let up 2 runs! UNC (#5) used the mercy rule on Miami, VT (#21) won on a walk-off home run against FSU (#7), UNC came back from down 5 to win by 5 in the 14th inning! VT (#21) of all teams went 3-0, and Clemson (#19) was 0-3,UVA won on a walk-off homer in the 12th by a sub!

pretty much what i’m trying to say is this tournament has been filled with excitement Tonight at 7:00 PM UNC (#5) takes on NC State (#9) on RSN the game is also on ESPN3, The winner takes on Virginia Tech at 1:00 PM tomorrow on ESPN2 and Watch ESPN.
