Military Appreciation Day(Fans may sign a banner to send to troops overseas inside the east and west gates.) will be held on Sept. 21 when UVa hosts VMI at Scott Stadium. Virginia’s Youth Day ( the first 5,000 kids in eighth grade and under will receive a free youth program upon entry.) will be for the Oct. 5 home game against Ball State.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

The UVa women’s soccer team concluded a week of training in Michigan with a scrimmage against the  Illinois Women’s Soccer team. The game started out with a goal for the ‘hoos by Danielle Colaprico. The score at the half was 1-zip cavs. Let’s go to the final period where Makenzy Doniak found Mary Morgan who puts it in the net and the ‘cavs are up 2-0! And then, Danielle Colaprico gets a pass from Mary Morgan and Colaprico puts it in the net to make it 3-0, The final score would be 3-0 Cavaliers.

BASEBALL

Former Virginia infielder Phil Gosselin has been called up to Major League Baseball by the Atlanta Braves and will be in uniform Friday evening!

ROWING

Rising UVa freshman Eliza Spilsbury won the gold medal at the World Rowing Junior Championships in Trakai, Lithuania.Other UVa incoming freshman Joanna Gurman and Ali Zwickeralso competed at the World Rowing Junior Championships.

Lauren Diaz-Yis was eliminated in the quarterfinal of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship in Charleston,SC. She lost to Doris Chen of Chinese Taipei 4 and 3.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

After UVa hosts Liberty and Hampton at home in the campus site round of the Corpus Christi Challenge the ‘hoos will travel to Corpus Christi, Texas to face SMU on Nov. 29th they will then play either Texas A&M or Missouri State

MEN’S BASKETBALL

UVa will play three games on ESPN’s Big Monday, where the hood will travel to Duke on Monday, Jan. 13 and host North Carolina and Maryland on Monday, Jan. 20 and Monday, Feb. 10, respectively. Tipoff for all three games is 7 p.m. ET.

VIRGINIA ATHLETICS

2,909 student-athletes were named to the 2012-13 ACC Honor roll, 286 were from UVa.

SWIMMING AND DIVING

3 coaches joined the UVa Swimming and Diving staff Tuesday. Cory Chitwood comes to the ‘hoos from LSU where he was an assistant coach last year. Sam Busch joins UVa after 2 years at Auburn as an assistant. Clif Robbins is coming to the academic village after a year as an assistant for Houston.
