Tom Brady should lose his appeal for “deflategate”, the scandal of deflating footballs in the 2014 AFC Championship Game and later lying about it in a public press conference. He was suspended 4 games and while I wouldn’t protest if the suspension was shortened to two games, the thought of the suspension being overturned entirely is just plain crazy.
Tom Brady was not suspended for doing something as small as deflating footballs as Patriots fans say, he was suspended for lying about it at a public press conference. The Patriots, being a very good team are also a very popular team, wins give you fans. Fans that include kids, kids that’s favorite team’s best player is a man who lies about cheating.
Patriots fans defense is that it didn’t matter, or didn’t have an impact in the game. Which is 100% true, New England won the game 45-7. Cheating is cheating no matter if it had an impact on the game or not. Tom Brady’s suspension should hold even if it’s shortened. The Patriots have basically admitted with the organization accepting the penalties and cutting ties with two equipment managers accused of being involved.
Patriots fans citing that there is no proof is also a completely ridiculous claim. Ted Wells, the lead investigator has a string of texts between two equipment managers one calling himself the “deflator” (to which the Patriots claim he was trying to lose weight) and in the string mentioning Tom Brady multiple times. In conclusion there is enough evidence for me to say that Tom Brady’s punishment should stand. The Patriots star will hopefully learn from his mistakes. This Patriots organization is well known for “spygate” just add “deflategate” to the list.
