    Arkansas State (+33.5) @ Georgia – 12 PM ET, ESPN2
Colorado (-1.5) vs Air Force – 1 PM ET, Pac-12 Network
    USC (-4) @ BYU – 3:30 PM ET, ABC
    Iowa (+1) @ Iowa State – 4 PM ET, FS1
Colorado State (+10) @ Arkansas – 4 PM ET, SEC Network
    Kent State (+36) @ Auburn – 7 PM ET, ESPN2
    Northern Illinois (+14) @ Nebraska – 8 PM ET, FS1

    WEEK THREE PICKS

    North Carolina (2-0) @ Wake Forest (2-0)
Friday, September 13th at 6 PM ET on ESPN
    Vegas Line: Wake Forest -3.5

With wins over two teams ranked in my model’s preseason top 25, North Carolina has shot up the CSD Prime computer rankings, but on the road in primetime against a real solid Wake Forest team that can put up points, I’ll take the Deacs and their high-powered offense to improve to 3-0 in what won’t be an upset by Vegas standards but perhaps will be in the conventional wisdom.

CSD Prime Pick: Wake Forest 33, North Carolina 32

    Kansas (1-1) @ Boston College (2-0)
Friday, September 13th at 7:30 PM ET on ACC Network
    Vegas Line: Boston College -21

Boston College has started the year 2-0 with a dominating win over Virginia Tech while Kansas squeaked by Indiana State and then lost to Coastal Carolina at home. Give me BC big.

CSD Prime Pick: Boston College 35, Kansas 16

    #20 Washington State (2-0) @ Houston (1-1)

Friday, September 13th at 9:15 PM ET on ESPN
    Vegas Line: Washington State -8.5

Washington State looks to have found another stud at the quarterback spot in Anthony Gordon (81% completion rate thru two games!), and the Cougs now have to travel to Houston to face a team that wants to make the most of an opportunity hosting a power five team as they try to put their name on the New Year’s Six maps. I really like D’Eriq King, but even in Houston, the Cougar defense won’t be able keep up with Gordon and company and will ultimately falter in a high scoring shootout.

CSD Prime Pick: Washington State 40, Houston 33

    Arkansas State (1-1) @ #3 Georgia (2-0)
Saturday, September 14th at 12 PM ET on ESPN2
    Vegas Line: Georgia -33.5

Given Appalachian State’s struggles last week, Arkansas State may be the best team in the Sun Belt. That doesn’t mean I think they have a shot at beating Georgia, but I certainly see them keeping it within 33.5.

CSD Prime Pick: Georgia 41, Arkansas State 14

☆Crazy Sports Dude Best Bet Alert☆ – Arkansas State +33.5

    #6 Ohio State (2-0) @ Indiana (2-0)

Saturday, September 14th at 12 PM ET on FOX
    Vegas Line: Ohio State -15.5

Ohio State romped Cincinnati last week thanks to terrific performances from JK Dobbins and Justin Fields. I’m not sure Indiana is actually any better than Cincinnati, although the Hoosiers will get this one at home. This should be closer than last week’s 42-0 beatdown, but OSU will make it 25 wins in a row against IU in a game that will never be in doubt.

CSD Prime Pick: Ohio State 38, Indiana 21

    Pittsburgh (1-1) @ #13 Penn State (2-0)
Saturday, September 14th at 12 PM ET on ABC
    Vegas Line: Penn State -17

I love that we are getting this rivalry every year now, although this game probably won’t be pretty. Penn State struggled out of the gate against Buffalo last week before ripping the doors off the Bulls in the second half. In a game as heated as this, I don’t foresee any slow starts, and the stifling Penn State defense will suffocate a Pitt offense that has struggled the first two weeks of the year.

CSD Prime Pick: Penn State 33, Pittsburgh 16

    #21 Maryland (2-0) @ Temple (1-0)

Saturday, September 14th at 12 PM ET on CBSSN
    Vegas Line: Maryland -7.5

Temple is sneaky good and has the home field advantage here, but they run into a Maryland team that brutalized Syracuse last week. I don’t think an upset is out of the question, and this will be closer than most expect, but I just can’t pick against Josh Jackson and the Terps offense right now.

CSD Prime Pick: Maryland 35, Temple 28

    Miami (OH) (1-1) @ Cincinnati (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 12 PM ET on ESPNU
    Vegas Line: Cincinnati -17.5

After controlling UCLA from start to finish in week one, it felt like Cincinnati was on the right track towards an AAC title-contending season, but after UCLA’s loss to San Diego State and Ohio State’s 42-0 beatdown of Cincinnati, I’d say we probably need to reevaluate that. Cincy should win this game, but I have faith in a solid Miami team to keep this within 17.5.

CSD Prime Pick: Cincinnati 33, Miami (OH) 22

    Chattanooga @ Tennessee (0-2)
Saturday, September 14th at 12 PM ET on SEC Network
    Pick: Tennessee

    Kansas State (2-0) @ Mississippi State (2-0)

Saturday, September 14th at 12 PM ET on ESPN
    Vegas Line: Mississippi State -7.5

Kansas State has been terrific to open up the year with Skylar Thompson at QB and James Gilbert taking the reigns in the run game. Granted, its been against Nicholls and Bowling Green. The ‘Cats now run into a Mississippi State defense that was the best in the country last year, and I feel much less confident about K-State’s potential successes on offense. Mississippi State QB Tommy Setevens appears to be banged up, but he’ll play, and if he’s healthy Mississippi State will get the win, but I expect this one to be tight to the last snap.

CSD Prime Pick: Mississippi State 29, Kansas State 22

    Furman @ Virginia Tech (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 12 PM ET on ACC Network
    Pick: Virginia Tech

    NC State (2-0) @ West Virginia (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 12 PM ET on FS1
    Vegas Line: NC State -7

This was the type of game where the overwhelming consensus has been on NC State -7, so much so that the fact that the oddsmakers haven’t moved the line almost convinced me to take West Virginia. Still, the Mountaineers have not been good as shown last week, and while I don’t think they get blown out as some do, I’ll still take NC State straight up.

CSD Prime Pick: NC State 27, West Virginia 21

    Eastern Michigan (1-1) @ Illinois (2-0)
Saturday, September 14th at 12 PM ET on BTN
    Vegas Line: Illinois -8.5

3-0 Illinois? It could happen. Eastern Michigan is not a bad team, but traveling on the road against an Illinois team building confidence, I’ll take the Illini every time.

CSD Prime Pick: Illinois 32, Eastern Michigan 25

The Citadel @ Georgia Tech (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 12:30 PM ET on ACC Network Extra
    Pick: Georgia Tech

    Air Force (1-0) @ Colorado (2-0)
Saturday, September 14th at 1 PM ET on Pac-12 Network
    Vegas Line: Colorado -1.5

Colorado may have beaten rival Nebraska last week, but they sure didn’t look pretty doing it. At home against a one-dimensional Air Force team, I think the Buffs rebound and win big, easily covering the meager spread of 1.5.

CSD Prime Pick: Colorado 34, Air Force 23

    ☆Crazy Sports Dude Best Bet Alert☆ – Colorado -1.5

    Florida Atlantic (0-2) @ Ball State (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 2 PM ET on ESPN+
    Vegas Line: Florida Atlantic -2.5

It’s been a rough start to the year for Florida Atlantic, the only team in the country to face top 20 opponents in both weeks one and two. The Owls will get back on track with a win over Ball State here, but it will be tight.

CSD Prime Pick: Florida Atlantic 37, Ball State 33

Norfolk State @ Coastal Carolina (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 2 PM ET on ESPN3
    Pick: Coastal Carolina

    New Mexico (1-0) @ #7 Notre Dame (1-0)
Saturday, September 14th at 2:30 PM ET on NBC
    Vegas Line: Notre Dame -35

Let’s not overthink this, Notre Dame will dominate the Lobos and have their starters out by the third quarter going into their week four matchup @ Georgia next week.

CSD Prime Pick: Notre Dame 44, New Mexico 15

    Akron (0-2) @ Central Michigan (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 3 PM ET on ESPN+
    Vegas Line: Central Michigan -3

MAC play begins for both of these teams on ESPN+. Neither has been impressive, Akron losing 42-3 against Illinois and Central Michigan being dominated 61-0 by Wisconsin, but CMU has the home field advantage and the more talented roster according to my model so I give them the edge here.

CSD Prime Pick: Central Michigan 27, Akron 23

    #2 Alabama (2-0) @ South Carolina (1-1)

Saturday, September 14th at 3:30 PM ET on CBS
    Vegas Line: Alabama -26

You know its a pretty weak slate when the 3:30 CBS game has a 26 point favorite. South Carolina looked good last week with Ryan Hilinski at the helm, but let’s be real, they aren’t going to challenge Bama. Give me the Tide, big.

CSD Prime Pick: Alabama 44, South Carolina 17

    Stanford (1-1) @ #17 UCF (2-0)

Saturday, September 14th at 3:30 PM ET on ESPN
    Vegas Line: UCF -7.5

This is for sure the game I’m most interested in this week just because I’m still not sure what to think about both teams. UCF, which has had a dominant start to potentially their third undefeated season in a row now is in the midst of an early year QB competition, taking on a Stanford team traveling cross-country fresh off of an embarrassing loss to USC with their injured quarterback returning but two hurt offensive tackles.

To be frank, I don’t think the problem with Stanford last week was the quarterback spot so I’m not sure how much getting Costello back really hurts, and UCF’s offensive style is somewhat similar to USC’s in the way they try to get their wideouts behind safeties what flat out speed. It’s hard to pick a team with an unknown at QB, but after Stanford’s normally rock-solid D let up 28/33 passes last week, I’m not too worried, give me the Golden Knights by a touchdown.

CSD Prime Pick: UCF 34, Stanford 27

    #24 USC (2-0) @ BYU (1-1)

Saturday, September 14th at 3:30 PM ET on ABC
    Vegas Line: USC -4

This is a really tricky spot for USC fresh off of an awesome performance last week, riding high now having to travel to face a sneaky good BYU team that might be easy to overlook. However, I think Clay Helton has his team ready to play, and the Trojans’ talent wins out on the backs of another awesome performance from QB Kedon Slovis.

CSD Prime Pick: USC 30, BYU 23

    ☆Crazy Sports Dude Best Bet Alert☆ – USC -4

    East Carolina (1-1) @ Navy (1-0)
Saturday, September 14th at 3:30 PM ET on CBSSN
    Vegas Line: Navy -7.5

East Carolina is a team that is more talented than people realize, and I love the hire of former JMU head coach Mike Houston. Fresh off of a 48-9 beatdown of FCS Gardner-Webb, I think the Pirates keep it within seven and a half with a good chance to pull the upset outright.

CSD Prime Pick: Navy 33, East Carolina 30

    Memphis (2-0) @ South Alabama (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 3:30 PM ET on ESPNU
    Vegas Line: Memphis -19

Memphis is a borderline top 25 team in my power ratings and they should dominate South Alabama here, even on the road.

CSD Prime Pick: Memphis 37, South Alabama 17

    Army (1-1) @ UTSA (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 3:30 PM ET on NFL Network
    Vegas Line: Army -17.5

I like the roster of this UTSA team more than most, but they are certainly still in rebuilding phase still and I think Army beats them by a pretty comfortable margin.

CSD Prime Pick: Army 34, UTSA 21

    Georgia Southern (1-1) @ Minnesota (2-0)
Saturday, September 14th at 3:30 PM ET on BTN
    Vegas Line: Minnesota -15.5

Minnesota has had a tough start to the year, the Golden Gophers have started 2-0, but both have been nailbiters against two really good low level teams in South Dakota State and Fresno State. They take on Georgia Southern here, another consistently good G5 program, but the Eagles aren’t on the level of a Fresno and I think the Gophers make a statement and control this one from start to finish to start 3-0.

CSD Prime Pick: Minnesota 33, Georgia Southern 15

    UNLV (1-1) @ Northwestern (0-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 3:30 PM ET on BTN
    Vegas Line: Northwestern -20

Northwestern looked awful on offense in week one, but with a bye week to prepare and home-field advantage against a bad UNLV team, I think they get back on the right track and win this one big.

CSD Prime Pick: Northwestern 33, UNLV 15

    Oklahoma State (2-0) @ Tulsa (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 3:30 PM ET on ESPN2
    Vegas Line: Oklahoma State -14.5

Oklahoma State has looked really good against weak competition so far this year. On the road, a decent Tulsa team might give them a test early, but the Cowboys will pull away late.

CSD Prime Pick: Oklahoma State 43, Tulsa 30

    Arizona State (2-0) @ #18 Michigan State (2-0)

Saturday, September 14th at 4 PM ET on FOX
    Vegas Line: Michigan State -13

Both of these teams haven’t really shown their cards yet thanks to easy schedules to start the year, but with home-field advantage on their side, I’ll stick with my preseason prior and take MSU by double digits.

CSD Prime Pick: Michigan State 28, Arizona State 16

    #19 Iowa (2-0) @ Iowa State (1-0)

Saturday, September 14th at 4 PM ET on FS1
    Vegas Line: Iowa State -1

Gameday will be in town for maybe the biggest Battle for the CyHawk trophy of all time. While I do think people are overreacting to Iowa State’s struggles against Northern Iowa in week one, I thought Iowa was the better team preseason and they haven’t shown anything to make me doubt that assumption. This will be a low scoring rock fight, but I have faith in Iowa QB Nate Stanley to put up some points and for the Hawkeye defense to keep the Cyclones in check. Vegas originally favored the wrong team here and I’ll capitalize on their error.

CSD Prime Pick: Iowa 24, Iowa State 20

    ☆Crazy Sports Dude Best Bet Alert☆ – Iowa +1

Southeastern Louisiana @ Ole Miss (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 4 PM ET on SEC Network Alternate
    Pick: Ole Miss

    Colorado State (1-1) @ Arkansas (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 4 PM ET on SEC Network
    Vegas Line: Arkansas –10

Arkansas has really struggled out of the gate, barely getting by FCS Portland State and being dominated by a pretty poor Ole Miss team. While Colorado State hasn’t lit the world on fire themselves, I certainly think they can keep this one within ten with a real shot at pulling the upset outright.

CSD Prime Pick: Arkansas 29, Colorado State 24

☆Crazy Sports Dude Best Bet Alert☆ – Colorado State +10

Louisville (1-1) vs. Western Kentucky (1-1) in Nashville, TN
Saturday, September 14th at 4 PM ET on Stadium
    Vegas Line: Louisville -10

Two teams from Kentucky play each other in non-conference game, so naturally, it will take place in Nashville. Louisville looked pretty good in a week one loss to Notre Dame and I see them controlling a Western Kentucky program in disarray from start to finish.

CSD Prime Pick: Louisville 30, Western Kentucky 20

    Bethune-Cookman @ Miami (0-2)
Saturday, September 14th at 4 PM ET on ACC Network
    Pick: Miami

    Idaho State @ #11 Utah (2-0)
Saturday, September 14th at 4:15 PM ET on Pac-12 Network Mountain
    Pick: Utah

    North Texas (1-1) @ California (2-0)
Saturday, September 14th at 4:15 PM ET on Pac-12 Network Bay Area
    Vegas Line: California -14.5

Cal picked up a huge win for the program on the road against Washington last week, I see them keeping the momentum going and taking care of a pretty good North Texas team here.

CSD Prime Pick: California 31, North Texas 17

Cal Poly @ Oregon State (0-2)
Saturday, September 14th at 4:15 PM ET on Pac-12 Network Oregon
    Pick: Oregon State

    Louisiana Tech (1-1) @ Bowling Green (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 5 PM ET on ESPN+
    Vegas Line: Louisiana Tech -10

The Skip Holtz offense at Louisiana Tech has looked shaky to start the year, but I think they have enough to take out a pretty bad Bowling Green team even on the road.

CSD Prime Pick: Louisiana Tech 35, Bowling Green 26

    Idaho @ Wyoming (2-0)
Saturday, September 14th at 5 PM ET on ESPN3
    Pick: Wyoming

    Buffalo (1-1) @ Liberty (0-2)
Saturday, September 14th at 6 PM ET on ESPN+
    Vegas Line: Buffalo -4.5

Two of the more sneaky decent G5 teams square off here, although I see Buffalo as having a pretty clear talent edge. Give me the Bulls in a tight one.

CSD Prime Pick: Buffalo 33, Liberty 27

South Carolina State @ South Florida (0-2)
Saturday, September 14th at 6 PM ET on ESPN3
    Pick: South Florida

    Southern Mississippi (1-1) @ Troy (1-0)
Saturday, September 14th at 6 PM ET on ESPN+
    Vegas Line: Troy -1.5

This will be an under the radar great game on Saturday, one of the best of the C-USA against one of the best of the Sun Belt. With the home field edge and an extra week to prepare, I’ll take Troy, but it’ll be close to the final minutes.

CSD Prime Pick: Troy 29, Southern Mississippi 27

    Ohio (1-1) @ Marshall (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 6:30 PM ET on Facebook Video
    Vegas Line: Marshall -5

Another terrific matchup between two of the best in the G5 here as Ohio takes on Marshall. Marshall impressed me last week against Boise State in a losing effort, and with the home field edge here against a struggling Ohio defense, the Herd will win this one, but it will be tight.

CSD Prime Pick: Marshall 33, Ohio 30

    Kent State (1-1) @ #8 Auburn (2-0)
Saturday, September 14th at 7 PM ET on ESPN2
    Vegas Line: Auburn -36

Auburn has been great this season, but one thing they haven’t been is high-scoring, putting up a combined 51 points on Oregon and Tulane. I think they beat Kent State pretty easily, but 36 might be too many points to cover.

CSD Prime Pick: Auburn 38, Kent State 11

☆Crazy Sports Dude Best Bet Alert☆ – Kent State +36

    Lamar @ #16 Texas A&M (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 7 PM ET on ESPNU
    Pick: Texas A&M

    New Hampshire @ FIU (0-2)
Saturday, September 14th at 7 PM ET on ESPN3
    Pick: FIU

    Texas State (0-2) @ SMU (2-0)
Saturday, September 14th at 7 PM ET on ESPN3
    Vegas Line: SMU -17

SMU has been one of the most improved teams in the nation this year, and they’ll show that against Texas State in a game that they’ll dominate from start to finish.

CSD Prime Pick: SMU 38, Texas State 25

    Weber State @ Nevada (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 7 PM ET on ESPN3
    Pick: Nevada

    Georgia State (2-0) @ Western Michigan (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 7 PM ET on ESPN+
    Vegas Line: Western Michigan -10

Georgia State may have the win over Tennessee, but this Western Michigan team has the talent edge and the home-field advantage, so I’ll pick them to improve to 2-1 heading into MAC play.

CSD Prime Pick: Western Michigan 44, Georgia State 34

    Murray State @ Toledo (0-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 7 PM ET on ESPN3
    Pick: Toledo

    Duke (1-1) @ Middle Tennessee (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 7 PM ET on Facebook Video
    Vegas Line: Duke -6.5

Duke has had a shaky start to the year, so traveling on the road to a pretty good Middle Tennessee team is tricky. I think the Blue Devils get the job done, but it will be tight.

CSD Prime Pick: Duke 29, Middle Tennessee 24

    #1 Clemson (2-0) @ Syracuse (1-1)

Saturday, September 14th at 7:30 PM ET on ABC
    Vegas Line: Clemson -27.5

Syracuse being ranked preseason was a joke according to Vegas and many computer models, and Maryland proved the computers right last week. Now, after suffering an embarrassing loss and being pushed back onto your heels you have the #1 team in the country coming into town? No shot. Give me Clemson, big.

CSD Prime Pick: Clemson 40, Syracuse 16

    Northwestern State @ #4 LSU (2-0)
Saturday, September 14th at 7:30 PM ET on SEC Network
    Pick: LSU

    Hawai’i (2-0) @ #23 Washington (1-1)

Saturday, September 14th at 7:30 PM ET on Pac-12 Network
    Vegas Line: Washington -21.5

Hawai’i has started the year 2-0 with two wins over Pac-12 foes. On the road against an excellent Washington team fired up after a shocking loss last week at about 5 AM Eastern to Cal I think that streak ends, but don’t be surprised if the Rainbow Warriors give UW a hell of a game for a few quarters.

    CSD Prime Pick: Washington 42, Hawai’i 21

    Florida State (1-1) @ #25 Virginia (2-0)

Saturday, September 14th at 7:30 PM ET on ACC Network
    Vegas Line: Virginia -7

Perhaps the biggest game of the primetime slate comes from Charlottesville, Virginia where the ‘Hoos, perhaps favorites in the ACC Coastal, welcome a reeling Florida State team to town. FSU was lucky to beat UL-Monroe last week and with 60,000 people expected to be on hand in Scott Stadium, this is the perfect spot for Florida State to play spoiler, I just don’t think they’re good enough to be able too. Cam Akers will make some plays, but Bryce Perkins, maybe the #2 QB in the ACC, will run all over a ‘Noles defense in disarray, and the Cavaliers will essentially lock up a bowl bid just three weeks into the year.

CSD Prime Pick: Virginia 32, Florida State 24

    TCU (1-0) @ Purdue (1-1)

Saturday, September 14th at 7:30 PM ET on BTN
    Vegas Line: TCU -2.5

This is one of the games I’m most interested to watch Saturday, mostly because I’m still not sure what to think about either team. Purdue lost to Nevada to open the year and then controlled Vanderbilt last week, while TCU played an FCS week one and then took a bye. In a situation where I feel uncertain, I’ll stick with my priors, which are that TCU is a borderline top 25 team with a great defense and Purdue is a good but flawed bowl team. I’ll pick the Horned Frogs to win a tight one on the road, but with just a one-game sample size for TCU I wouldn’t really be shocked at any result.

CSD Prime Pick: TCU 32, Purdue 28

Southeast Missouri State @ Missouri (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 7:30 PM ET on SEC Network Alternate
    Pick: Missouri

    Texas Southern @ Louisiana (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 7:30 PM ET on ESPN3
    Pick: Louisiana

    #5 Oklahoma (2-0) @ UCLA (0-2)
Saturday, September 14th at 8 PM ET on FOX
    Vegas Line: Oklahoma -23.5

Oklahoma has looked dynamite to start the year, UCLA has looked dreadful and in serious risk of missing a bowl. Give me the Sooners by a wide margin.

CSD Prime Pick: Oklahoma 42, UCLA 25

#12 Texas (1-1) vs. Rice (0-2) in Houston, TX
Saturday, September 14th at 8 PM ET on CBSSN
    Vegas Line: Texas -31.5

Another weird neutral site game here as Texas takes on Rice. This one shouldn’t be close, as the Longhorns get that painful loss to LSU last week out of their systems.

CSD Prime Pick: Texas 40, Rice 14

San Diego State (2-0) @ New Mexico State (0-2)
Saturday, September 14th at 8 PM ET on Flo Sports
Vegas Line: San Diego State -15.5

San Diego State beat Pac-12 foe UCLA last week, and I see them keeping that momentum rolling here against a New Mexico State team that is one of the five worst in the country.

CSD Prime Pick: San Diego State 34, New Mexico State 16

    Missouri State @ Tulane (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 8 PM ET on ESPN3
    Pick: Tulane

    Northern Illinois (1-1) @ Nebraska (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 8 PM ET on FS1
    Vegas Line: Nebraska -14

Nebraska has just flat out not looked sharp to open the year, while Northern Illinois has looked solid, especially defensively, and the Huskies proved they could hang against Utah last week, at least for a half. This one will be low scoring, and while I think Nebraska will win, I am very confident NIU keeps it within 14, and maybe even wins outright as they did in 2017 against the Cornhuskers.

CSD Prime Pick: Nebraska 28, Northern Illinois 20

☆Crazy Sports Dude Best Bet Alert☆ – Northern Illinois +14

    Portland State @ #22 Boise State (2-0)
Saturday, September 14th at 10:15 PM ET on ESPN2
    Pick: Boise State

    Texas Tech (2-0) @ Arizona (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 10:30 PM ET on ESPN
    Vegas Line: Texas Tech -2.5

This is an interesting one right here. Arizona NEEDS this win after the embarrassing week one loss to Hawai’i, and they’ve got the home-field advantage here against a Texas Tech team we don’t know much about. The Red Raider offense has rolled against FCS Montana State and the worst team in the FBS, UTEP, but how will they fare against actual competition? I’m not sure. Khalil Tate has had an excellent start to the year despite his defense’s struggles, and I have more faith in him than Texas Tech’s unproven quarterback play. In a game with two weak defenses, we should be in for a fun shootout to close out the night, but I’ll take the home team in a game Kevin Sumlin desperately needs to make a bowl.

CSD Prime Pick: Arizona 42, Texas Tech 38

    Montana @ #15 Oregon (1-1)
Saturday, September 14th at 10:45 PM ET on Pac-12 Network
    Pick: Oregon

    2. Maryland and North Carolina are going to give Michigan and Clemson scares coming soon
    3. Wisconsin looks great, but let’s wait until they beat *somebody* before freaking out
    4. Virginia is clearly the best team in their state
    5. Florida State is the second-worst team in their division
    6. Charlie Strong’s seat may be the hottest in the country
    7. West Virginia is probably the worst team in the Big 12 outside of Kansas
    8. Jeremy Pruitt might not make it out of year two
    9. Even with a true freshman backup QB, USC has a legit case to be the Pac-12 favorite
    10. We are already down to just six national title contenders

  • CSD Prime Computer Model 1-130 Rankings After Week Two

CSD Prime Computer Model 1-130 Rankings After Week Two

I figured I’ll start off by answering some common questions this week.

Q: How is Miami still ranked?
A: They lost to a top ten team by four on a neutral and a top 30 team by three on the road, that kinda holds true with a what a team ranked around 20th should do, slightly overperforming against Florida and slightly underperforming against UNC, thus they haven’t dropped that much.

Q: How is Missouri still ranked?
A: They lost a game against Wyoming in week one with a lot of turnover weirdness and such. The way the model works is a team is assigned a “game score” and based upon whether or not that is better than expected given their opponent they move up or down. The model gave Missouri a 75% chance to beat Missouri week one, and given the stats of the Wyoming game they actually received a game score of 55, basically meaning that ignoring who won, based on the stats of the game Missouri should have won 55% of the time, this is done to avoid weirdness like fluky fumbles in the redzone or random missed kicks that aren’t truly reflective of a team’s actual strength. Essentially, they underperformed against Wyoming but not to the degree the final score would suggest, then they went out and smacked West Virginia this week, so they gained back a lot of the bit they did lose.

Q: That game score thing is interesting, were there any games this week where the team that played better according to the model actually lost?
A: Of course, although it happens less frequently than you’d think. This week there were just two cases, both involving college overtime weirdness: Kent State, which beat Kennesaw State in overtime had a game score of 49, Florida State, which beat ULM in overtime had a game score of 39.

Q: Who was the most dominant team this week?
A: Kansas State, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Indiana, Georgia, Oregon, Alabama, Washington State, Oklahoma, Florida, and NC State all had game scores of 100 this week. The highest game score vs a power-five opponent was Iowa against (of course) Rutgers with a 98.

Q: What is the best conference in college football?
A: Average ratings listed below, no real surprises, the most notable thing probably being that the Sun Belt, generally considered to be the weakest conference, comes in 8th.

    1. SEC (Average: +9.8)
      2. Big Ten (Average: +4.9)
      3. Big 12 (Average: +3.7)
      4. Pac-12 (Average: +2.9)
      5. ACC (Average: +2.5)
      6. AAC (Average: -2.7)
      7. MWC (Average: -4.1)
      8. Sun Belt (Average: -6.7)
      9. MAC (Average: -7.2)
      10. CUSA (Average: -7.4)

Q: Who are the biggest movers so far?
A: In the positive direction: North Carolina, Utah State, Maryland, SMU, Kansas State, Colorado State, Cal, Tulane, San Deigo State, and Virginia. In the negative direction: Tennessee, Florida State, FIU, Appalachian State, Arizona State, Nebraska, Syracuse, North Texas, Virginia Tech, and UAB.

    Q: Best G5s/Worst P5s?
A: Ah, a classic. The current best G5s are:

    1. UCF
    2. Boise State
    3. Memphis
    4. Cincinnati
    5. Fresno State
    6. Utah State
    7. San Diego State
    8. BYU (if you count them)
    9. Toledo
    10. Temple

The current worst P5s are (with worst being #1):

    1. Kansas
    2. Rutgers
    3. Oregon State
    4. Illinois
    5. Louisville
    6. Tennessee
    7. Duke
    8. Georgia Tech
    9. Arkansas

    WEEK TWO

    William & Mary @ Virginia (1-0)
Friday, September 6th at 8 PM ET on ACC Network
    Pick: Virginia

    Wake Forest (1-0) @ Rice (0-1)
Friday, September 6th at 8 PM ET on CBSSN
    Vegas Line: Wake Forest -18

Rice looked ahead of schedule in week one, but that’s not to say they still won’t be one of the worst teams in college football this year. Even at home, I don’t think that they’ll be able to compete with P5 talent, give me Wake big.

CSD Prime Pick: Wake Forest 37, Rice 20

    Marshall (1-0) @ #24 Boise State (1-0)

Friday, September 6th at 9 PM ET on ESPN2
    Vegas Line: Boise State -11

Two of the best teams in the G5 will square off to headline a pretty light Friday night slate. Boise struggled out of the gate last week against Florida State before putting up a tremendous second half performance. Marshall has the talented to pull the upset here, but after Hank Bachmeier’s great debut to start 2019, I think Boise wins a tight one.

CSD Prime Pick: Boise State 33, Marshall 25

Sacramento State @ Arizona State (1-0)
Friday, September 6th at 10 PM ET on Pac-12 Network
    Pick: Arizona State

    Ohio (1-0) @ Pittsburgh (0-1)
Saturday, September 7th at 11 AM ET on ACC Network
    Vegas Line: Pittsburgh -4

This game is a huge opportunity for the MAC to pick up a non-conference victory over a power five team on the road. Pitt looked vulnerable in week one, and with Nathan Rourke at the helm for Ohio, I don’t think an upset would be too surprising even if I think home-field advantage will carry Pitt to a tight win.

CSD Prime Pick: Pittsburgh 30, Ohio 26

    Cincinnati (1-0) @ #5 Ohio State (1-0)

Saturday, September 7th at 12 PM ET on ABC
    Vegas Line: Ohio State -16

Both of these teams impressed in week one. Cincinnati, led by veteran QB Desmond Ridder, controlled UCLA from start to finish, and Ohio State looked as dominant as any team in the country. QB Justin Fields looks to be a potential star this year for the Buckeyes. There is talent on this Cincinnati team, but against an explosive OSU offense that hung 28 on FAU in a single quarter, I think Cincy falters here before rebounding once AAC play picks up.

CSD Prime Pick: Ohio State 38, Cincinnati 18

    Army (1-0) @ #7 Michigan (1-0)

Saturday, September 7th at 12 PM ET on FOX
    Vegas Line: Michigan -23.5

Both of these teams struggled last week, Army more so, the Black Knights needed a late game drive to knock of lowly Rice in a home game, and now they have to travel to the Big House. The Michigan run defense was terrific in week one and I think the offense gets things together, give me Michigan big.

CSD Prime Pick: Michigan 36, Army 14

    Rutgers (1-0) @ #20 Iowa (1-0)
Saturday, September 7th at 12 PM ET on FS1
    Vegas Line: Iowa -20

Rutgers looked dominant after about a quarter and a half last week while Iowa struggled with an (albeit high-level) FCS team. Nonetheless, at home and trying to prove a point after a poor performance, I’ll take the Hawkeyes to win big and start out Big Ten play on the right foot.

CSD Prime Pick: Iowa 37, Rutgers 20

    #21 Syracuse (1-0) @ Maryland (1-0)

Saturday, September 7th at 12 PM ET on ESPN
    Vegas Line: Syracuse -1.5

Syracuse dominated a high-powered Liberty offense in week one, holding them to zero points on the backs of their deadly pass rush. Maryland also held an opponent to zero in Howard, and put up 56 points of their own in the first half alone before cruising to a 79-0 victory. It’s hard to extrapolate games against teams like Howard, but Maryland looked excellent, and while the Syracuse defensive front impressed, there were cracks in the foundation, especially with QB Tommy DeVito’s play. Give me Maryland in a tight one.

CSD Prime Pick: Maryland 29, Syracuse 25

    ☆Crazy Sports Dude Best Bet Alert☆ – Maryland +1.5

    Old Dominion (1-0) @ Virginia Tech (0-1)
Saturday, September 7th at 12 PM ET on ESPNU
    Vegas Line: Virginia Tech -29.5

Virginia Tech lost this game last year and looked incredibly shaky in the first week of play of 2019. Tech lost a ton this offseason and needs to rebound from the week one loss to Boston College in order to make a bowl. I think they do that, and make a statement in the process with a big win.

CSD Prime Pick: Virginia Tech 43, Old Dominion 18

    UAB (1-0) @ Akron (0-1)
Saturday, September 7th at 12 PM ET on CBSSN
    Vegas Line: UAB -9.5

Both of these teams struggled in week one, UAB barely scraping by FCS Alabama State and Akron being throttled by Illinois. Since both underdelivered I’ll stick with my preseason judgment in UAB, but I’m not too confident in it.

CSD Prime Pick: UAB 25, Akron 22

Kennesaw State @ Kent State (0-1)
Saturday, September 7th at 12 PM ET on ESPN3
    Pick: Kent State

    Southern @ Memphis (1-0)
Saturday, September 7th at 12 PM ET on ESPN3
    Pick: Memphis

    West Virginia (1-0) @ Missouri (0-1)
Saturday, September 7th at 12 PM ET on ESPN2
    Vegas Line: Missouri -14

Neither of these teams looked impressive at all in week one, and while I think Missouri wins out because of raw talent and home-field, in a game like this where I feel like anything could happen it feels safe to take the 14 points with West Virginia and their staunch defense.

CSD Prime Pick: Missouri 32, West Virginia 23

☆Crazy Sports Dude Best Bet Alert☆ – West Virginia +14

Charleston Southern @ South Carolina (0-1)
Saturday, September 7th at 12 PM ET on SEC Network
    Pick: South Carolina

    Vanderbilt (0-1) @ Purdue (0-1)
Saturday, September 7th at 12 PM ET on BTN
    Vegas Line: Purdue -7.5

After Purdue lost to Nevada to start out 2019, the Boilermakers suddenly need this win to go bowling. With the home crowd at their backs and Rondale Moore and Elijah Sindelar on offense I *think* they’ll win, but I’m not confident in it, so if you’re giving me a Vanderbilt team that looked pretty solid for the final three quarters against what I think is the #2 team in the country plus 7.5 against a team that just lost to Nevada, I’m taking Vandy every time, so while I think they’ll lose the game in a tight one, I feel very good about their chances of keeping it within one possession.

CSD Prime Pick: Purdue 31, Vanderbilt 28

    Bowling Green (1-0) @ Kansas State (1-0)
Saturday, September 7th at 12 PM ET on FSN
    Vegas Line: Kansas State -23

Often times, people don’t like it when computer models extrapolate data from FCS games, but Kansas State impressed last week, overdelivering on projections in practically every facet of the game. I think they start the year 2-0 with a win here.

CSD Prime Pick: Kansas State 41, Bowling Green 20

Western Carolina @ NC State (1-0)
Saturday, September 7th at 12:30 PM ET on ACC Network Extra

    Northern Illinois (1-0) @ #13 Utah (1-0)
Saturday, September 7th at 1 PM ET on Pac-12 Network
    Vegas Line: Utah -22.5

Both of these teams have tremendous defenses and it should be a pretty fun watch in the 10 AM local time slot. Utah will pull away late, but I think the Huskies put up a fight.

CSD Prime Pick: Utah 33, Northern Illinois 14

    Fordham @ Ball State (0-1)

    South Florida (0-1) @ Georgia Tech (0-1)
Saturday, September 7th at 2 PM ET on ACC Network
    Vegas Line: Georgia Tech -5.5

Both of these teams got embarrassed to open the season, I’m not sure what to expect, but Georgia Tech has the home-field edge so even with the offense still a work in progress I think the Yellow Jackets pick up a win for the ACC.

CSD Prime Pick: Georgia Tech 35, South Florida 29

Tennessee Tech @ Miami (OH) (0-1)
Saturday, September 7th at 2:30 PM ET on ESPN+

    #12 Texas A&M (1-0) @ #1 Clemson (1-0)

Saturday, September 7th at 3:30 PM ET on ABC
    Vegas Line: Clemson -17.5

Texas A&M may rank 12th in the AP poll, but in my computer model, the Aggies actually are rated out as the #9 team in the nation. A&M not only took care of business in week one but dominated a Texas State team that I thought had some serious talent. Clemson also dominated on Thursday night, in their case against a rebuilding Georgia Tech team undergoing a huge system change, covering a massive 37 point spread in the process.

I’ve felt really high on Texas A&M all offseason and week one only helped confirm some of those suspicions. QB Kellen Mond and RB Jashaun Corbin were excellent for the Aggies, as were the play of their corners and interior lineman up and down the depth chart.

I really considered calling the outright upset here, and I’m taking Texas A&M +17.5 for sure, but especially at home in Death Valley, I just can’t pick against this Clemson team. The Tiger secondary, led by Tanner Muse, looked dynamite in week one, Travis Etienne and Tee Higgins looked great, and it seems like the offensive line won’t miss a beat as they were dominate against the Yellow Jackets. I’ve got Trevor Lawrence rebounding from a subpar performance and leading Clemson to a win, but it will be closer than expected.

CSD Prime Pick: Clemson 35, Texas A&M 28

    Central Michigan (1-0) @ #17 Wisconsin (1-0)
Saturday, September 7th at 3:30 PM ET on BTN
    Vegas Line: Wisconsin -35

Wisconsin was probably the most impressive team of week one to me, the Badgers dismantled what I expected to be a pretty solid South Florida team, and I think they do the same to Central Michigan here.

CSD Prime Pick: Wisconsin 45, Central Michigan 10

    #25 Nebraska (1-0) @ Colorado (1-0)

Saturday, September 7th at 3:30 PM ET on FOX
    Vegas Line: Nebraska -5

Nebraska wasn’t the team that disappointed me the most in week one, that honor would go to schools like South Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri, Purdue, and USF, but the Cornhuskers weren’t far off, struggling from bell to bell against a South Alabama team that came into the season ranked 123rd of 130. Now they’ve got to on the road against a Colorado team fresh off of a dominating performance against their in-state rival? I don’t know what Vegas was thinking favoring Nebraska by nearly a touchdown here, but my model calls for Colorado to win this one straight up on the backs of the terrific offensive line and WR Laviska Shenault.

CSD Prime Pick: Colorado 35, Nebraska 33

Appalachian State is up there with the best teams in the G5, and I think they prove that here with a commanding victory over an improving Charlotte squad.

UConn won a game last week, they won’t win another against an Illinois team that destroyed a decent Akron team to kick off the season.

    Southern Mississippi (1-0) @ Mississippi State (1-0)
Saturday, September 7th at 3:30 PM ET on ESPNU
    Vegas Line: Mississippi State -17

Mississippi State was a team that my model was much higher on than AP voters preseason, and while they did struggle a little against Louisiana for the first half of week one partly due to some unforeseen suspensions, I don’t think they’ll have that same type of trouble here, even against a USM team that could compete for a C-USA crown.

CSD Prime Pick: Mississippi State 30, Southern Mississippi 16

    New Mexico State (0-1) @ #2 Alabama (1-0)

54 points? Are you serious Vegas? Actually, now that you say that it doesn’t sound so absurd (I’ve still got NMSU +54 with a gun to my head, but I wouldn’t bet on it).

Matt Rhule has been trying to change the toxic culture at Baylor, but I’m not sure how much success he’s had so far. The Bears did look good against Stephen F. Austin, and they’ll win this game, but I’m more concerned about the spread. UTSA dominated a good Incarnate Word team last week in a game many expected them to lose outright, holding the ball for 40 minutes, and while I don’t think they’ll pull the upset here, they’ll keep it within four touchdowns thanks to their grinding pace.

CSD Prime Pick: Baylor 38, UTSA 19

Both of these teams had no offense in week one. This one won’t be pretty, and San Diego State will keep it close, but give me Chip Kelly and the Bruins in a tight one.

I said that Florida State would be fine after the Boise State game, and I’m sticking to that. They lost a tossup game against a really good team, that happens, now you just have to take care of business against UL Monroe, and I think they’ll do that.

    #18 UCF (1-0) @ Florida Atlantic (0-1)

Saturday, September 7th at 7 PM ET on CBSSN
    Vegas Line: UCF -10

Transfer QB Brandon Wimbush looked solid in UCF’s 62-0 win over Florida A&M last week while Florida Atlantic’s defense got punched in the mouth by Justin Fields and JK Dobbins. Granted, the two teams faced two very different opponents, but it’s hard to feel confident about the FAU D. Owl QB Chris Robison will keep this one close, but I think Wimbush impresses and the Owl defense falters down the stretch before falling by ten points.

Saturday, September 7th at 7 PM ET on ESPN+

    North Texas (1-0) @ SMU (1-0)
Saturday, September 7th at 7 PM ET on ESPN3
    Vegas Line: SMU -3.5

SMU kicked off the year with a win over Arkansas State, and now they’ve got North Texas in what should be a really fun high scoring shootout. Shane Buechele looked great in week one, and with the home crowd at his back, I think the Texas transfer leads the Mustangs to a 2-0 start.

CSD Prime Pick: SMU 41, North Texas 37

    Eastern Kentucky @ Louisville (0-1)
Saturday, September 7th at 7 PM ET on ACC Network Extra
    Pick: Louisville

    BYU (0-1) @ Tennessee (0-1)
Saturday, September 7th at 7 PM ET on ESPN
    Vegas Line: Tennessee -3.5

Boy is this an interesting game to keep an eye on, not from a football perspective (it might be bad in that sense), but these two coaches are now both nearing the hot seat after embarrassing performances week one, for BYU’s Kilani take yet another loss to Utah, and for Tennessee’s Jeremy Pruitt a loss to Georgia State. I think home field and talent wins out, but a BYU win is not out of the question, and should that happen it would send the Vols spiraling out of control.

CSD Prime Pick: Tennessee 26, BYU 22

    Coastal Carolina (0-1) @ Kansas (1-0)
Saturday, September 7th at 7 PM ET on ESPN+
    Vegas Line: Kansas -7.5

Kansas is bad, but signs of improvement were there against Indiana State in week one, and that was without the best player on the team, RB Pooka Williams. Now, they get Pooka back against a really bad Coastal Carolina team that just let Eastern Michigan QB Mike Glass throw at a 91% accuracy rate, and yeah, not only do I take Kansas to win, but I’ll put money on them laying 7.5.

CSD Prime Pick: Kansas 33, Coastal Carolina 18

    #6 LSU (1-0) @ #9 Texas (1-0)

Saturday, September 7th at 7:30 PM ET on ABC
    Vegas Line: LSU -5.5

LSU and Texas throttled two really good group of five programs last week by a combined score of 100-17, and they did that while both trying to hide much of their offenses in preparation for this blockbuster week two showcase.

This matchup fascinates me, and if it’s nearly as exciting as last week’s primetime ABC game we’ll be in for a treat, but let’s start with Tom Herman’s Texas Longhorns, a team known to have messed around with lower-level opponents in the past, but one that certainly did not do that in week one. The Longhorns were led on offense by RB Keontay Ingram and a terrific offensive line, and while QB Sam Ehlinger had a pretty average game, with the home crowd behind him in a big spot, I think he rebounds. Texas also boasts maybe the top edge rusher in the Big 12 in Joseph Ossai (88.5 PFF grade), and he’ll be going up against an LSU line that wasn’t playing at the level they should’ve been last week against Georgia Southern.

For the Tigers, you’ve got raw talent in the skill corps and in the secondary, along with star QB Joe Burrow, one of the most underrated QBs in college football (five touchdowns, 85% completion rate in week one). Even if Burrow or the running back stable struggle to get started, they are backed up by an extraordinary defense led by maybe the best linebacking corps in the country and a pair of studs in the secondary between Grant Delpit and Kristian Fulton.

This may truly be a college football playoff elimination game as early as week two, and with both quarterbacks facing big tests, I trust the LSU defense to put more pressure on Ehlinger and for the Tigers to win the day in a tight one on the road.

CSD Prime Pick: LSU 29, Texas 24

    Tulane (1-0) @ #10 Auburn (1-0)

Saturday, September 7th at 7:30 PM ET on ESPN2
    Vegas Line: Auburn -18

My bet of Tulane -2 last week was against the “sharp consensus” but it ended up turning out ok, as the Green Wave not only covered two points but demolished FIU 42-14. Add in the “hangover factor” after Bo Nix’s brilliant emotional game-winning drive against Oregon, and while I don’t think they pull the upset, I’ve got Tulane +18 as a surefire best bet for week two on the backs of their sneaky reformed offense.

CSD Prime Pick: Auburn 30, Tulane 17

Saturday, September 7th at 7:30 PM ET on FOX

Buffalo could be great in the MAC this year, but there is no reason to overthink this. Give me Penn State, big.

CSD Prime Pick: Penn State 41, Buffalo 14

    Nevada (1-0) @ #16 Oregon (0-1)

Saturday, September 7th at 7:30 PM ET on Pac-12 Network
    Vegas Line: Oregon -23

Nevada looked really great in their crazy comeback win against Purdue last week. The Wolfpack, led by QB Carson Strong, now have to go on the road against an Oregon team looking to make a statement after coming up short in their week one blockbuster against Auburn. Justin Herbert looked tremendous last week, and the Nevada defense is no Auburn. Herbert will shine and the Ducks will pull away after a tight quarter and a half.

CSD Prime Pick: Oregon 41, Nevada 22

    Western Michigan (1-0) @ #19 Michigan State (1-0)
Saturday, September 7th at 7:30 PM ET on BTN
    Vegas Line: Michigan State -16

This game is going to be a low scoring defensive battle, but Michigan State will win it in one that will be close than expected.

CSD Prime Pick: Michigan State 28, Western Michigan 15

    Eastern Michigan (1-0) @ Kentucky (1-0)
Saturday, September 7th at 7:30 PM ET on SEC Network Alternate
    Vegas Line: Kentucky -14.5

Kentucky struggled out of the gate against Toledo last week before pulling away to win, I see a similar situation playing out here.

CSD Prime Pick: Kentucky 33, Eastern Michigan 19

    Arkansas (1-0) @ Ole Miss (0-1)
Saturday, September 7th at 7:30 PM ET on SEC Network
    Vegas Line: Ole Miss -6.5

Please don’t watch this game. Both of these teams looked bad in week one, Ole Miss put up just ten points on what is considered to be a poor Memphis D, and Arkansas struggled with Portland State. I’ve got Ole Miss winning because of the home-field edge, but after both failed to come close to expectations last week I don’t feel that confident in it.

CSD Prime Pick: Ole Miss 28, Arkansas 21

Saturday, September 7th at 7:30 PM ET on ESPN+
    Vegas Line: ULL -14

ULL held their own against Mississippi State for most of the first half last week and Liberty failed to put up a single point against Syracuse. Give me the Cajuns by double digits.

CSD Prime Pick: Louisiana 37, Liberty 25

    Prairie View @ Houston (0-1)
Saturday, September 7th at 8 PM ET on ESPN3
    Pick: Houston

    Miami (0-1) @ North Carolina (1-0)

Saturday, September 7th at 8 PM ET on ACC Network
    Vegas Line: Miami -5.5

This is a big game for Miami coming off of the loss to Florida. I still think this is a really good football team (My model actually still has them in the top 25) but they’ve got to prove themselves here against a North Carolina team that looked excellent in a neutral site rivalry game against South Carolina. The Hurricanes had an extra week to prepare for this because of their week one bye and I think they get the win here on the road on the backs of Jarren Williams and DeeJay Dallas, but if North Carolina pulls the upset watch out for the Tar Heels as a potential contender in the ACC Coastal.

CSD Prime Pick: Miami 25, North Carolina 20

    UTEP (1-0) @ Texas Tech (1-0)
Saturday, September 7th at 8 PM ET on FSN
    Vegas Line: Texas Tech -34

UTEP, my lowest-rated team in the country, won a game against FCS Houston Baptist last week! I don’t think they’ve got much of a shot here against Texas Tech, but you’ve got to start somewhere, right?

CSD Prime Pick: Texas Tech 49, UTEP 17

    Tulsa (0-1) @ San Jose State (1-0)
Saturday, September 7th at 9 PM ET on ESPN3
    Vegas Line: Tulsa -6

Tulsa looked real bad against Michigan State, totaling -74 (!) rushing yards from the game. However, the Hurricane D is just too talented to lose to a rebuilding San Jose State team, even on the road.

CSD Prime Pick: Tulsa 29, San Jose State 24

    Arkansas State (0-1) @ UNLV (1-0)
Saturday, September 7th at 10 PM ET on Facebook Video

I felt really good about Arkansas State this offseason and they burned me last week, but I’ll take the Red Wolves to rebound here.

CSD Prime Pick: Arkansas State 36, UNLV 26

    California (1-0) @ #14 Washington (1-0)

Saturday, September 7th at 10:30 PM ET on FS1
    Vegas Line: Washington -14

Washington, led by Georgia transfer QB Jacob Eason, looked excellent in week one against a really high-level FCS team in Eastern Washington, and afterwards I called the Huskies the surefire Pac-12 favorites, an assertion that I held in the preseason (maybe with less conviction though). With the home crowd on their side and a lot of the new defensive players now with the first game butterflies under their belts, I think they take care of Cal team that is led by an excellent defense in a game that could be close for a while before the Huskies pull away.

CSD Prime Pick: Washington 27, California 16

    #23 Stanford (1-0) @ USC (1-0)

Saturday, September 7th at 10:30 PM ET on ESPN
    Vegas Line: USC -1

Both of these teams are still ranked in my computer model’s top 25, although those rankings don’t take into account the injuries that befell Stanford QB KJ Costello and USC QB JT Daniels. Because of that, this is one of the rare occasions where my official pick deviates slightly from the model, as I feel better about Stanford and Davis Millis than I do about USC and their true freshman QB Kedon Slovis. Slovis looked alright against Fresno, but in a primetime local kick game against an incredible Stanford defense, I don’t like his chances. This will be low scoring as both QBs get accustomed to their situations, but the Cardinal will win in a tight one.

CSD Prime Pick: Stanford 21, USC 20

    Minnesota (1-0) @ Fresno State (0-1)
Saturday, September 7th at 10:30 PM ET on CBSSN
    Vegas Line: Minnesota -3

Boy was it tempting to take Fresno State here after Minnesota’s struggles against South Dakota State in week one, but even on the road, I’m calling for PJ Fleck and the Golden Gopher’s talent to win out. The difference at the lines will be too much for Fresno to handle, and the terrific Minnesota duo of Mo Ibrahim and Rodney Smith will lead them to a close win.

CSD Prime Pick: Minnesota 25, Fresno State 23

    Northern Arizona @ Arizona (0-1)
Saturday, September 7th at 10:45 PM ET on Pac-12 Network

    Oregon State (0-1) @ Hawai’i (1-0)
Saturday, September 7th at 11:59 PM ET on Facebook Video
    Vegas Line: Hawai’i -6.5

Oregon State’s offense looked nice in week one, but on the road against a Hawai’i team firing on all cylinders, I’ll take Cole McDonald and the Rainbow Warriors to take a second Pac-12 scalp to open the year.

CSD Prime Pick: Hawai’i 43, Oregon State 39
