  • PIRATES WALK-OFF IN 16

    PIRATES WALK-OFF IN 16

    Cubs 0-1 vs Pirates 1-0

Let’s start, Top of the 9th, 2-1 Pirates but Luis Valbuena singles to right field and that scores Junior Lake to tie it at 2 for the Cubs. The Pirates couldn’t get anything done in the bottom of the ninth and we would go to extra’s and in the top of the 12th, full count and Anthony Rizzo gets great contact and it’s going, going GONE! The solo shot by Rizzo gives the Cubs a 3-2 lead! Can the Pirates answer? Bottom of the 12th, runners at 2nd and 3rd and Starling Marte lines it to deep left field…AND A RUN SCORES! However, no more runs were scored until the bottom of the 16TH , still tied at 3, runners at the corners and Tony Sanchez, perfectly placed ground ball right through the third baseman and the shortstop, and the Pirates win in walk-off fashion, 4-3.

  • CHAPMAN TAKES LINER TO THE FACE

CHAPMAN TAKES LINER TO THE FACE

Let’s look into Spring Training for the MLB. The Cactus league, Reds vs Royals.

Aroldis Chapman pitching for Cinci, and he throws his 99 MPH fastball and Royals batter Salvador Perez hits a line drive. Nothing out of the ordinary right? The problem is, somehow the liner went right into Chapman’s face, right above the eye and suffered a facial fracture. He also suffered a concussion AND broke the bone right above his eye, he will undergo surgery for that where they will place a titanium plate in his head and maybe a bone graft. He will be out for 2 months!

  • STEP UP TO THE PLATE FEATURING JOHN FARRELL’S KEYS TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP (HOW THE SOX WON IT ALL)

STEP UP TO THE PLATE FEATURING JOHN FARRELL’S KEYS TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP (HOW THE SOX WON IT ALL)

Recently I was fortunate enough to participate in an event called step up to the plate in Charlottesville with the preseason #1 Virginia Baseball team with guest speaker John Farrell and something that Farrell said repeatedly was that it wasn’t one guy. And that is true, the Red Sox had multiple guys contributing game in and game out, and you need that. Another thing was the lockerroom chemistry if all your guys enjoy playing with eachother and no  one is full of himself things go a LOT smoother because you have less off the field distractions. The 3rd piece Farrell said was that the team had the confidence that even though they wern’t the most talented team they put in the work and became the best team in the MLB. Now with the moment of the night, the best story he told. The story begins with some Red Sox players in a cab and the cabbie is going really fast and Dustin Pedroia put’s his hand on the cabbie and says, slow down, do you know who’s in this car? And the cabbie’s like no I have no idea who you are and Pedroia says this is your 2013 World Series champion Boston Redsox! By the way this was in April, the World Series is in October, 6 months away. Either Pedroia can see the future or he and his team have enourmos amounts of confidence. Confidence is key to winning a title.

NOTE: These were not Farrells EXACT words

  • TALK OF THE TOWN 11/21: IT’S KIND OF A BIG DEAL! FIELDER TO TEXAS FOR KINSLER

TALK OF THE TOWN 11/21: IT’S KIND OF A BIG DEAL! FIELDER TO TEXAS FOR KINSLER

First reported by cbssports.com the Detroit Tigers have traded star first baseman Prince Fielder to the Rangers for 2nd baseman Ian Kinsler. This is a BLOCKBUSTER DEAL! The Rangers will also receive 30 million dollars. Kinsler’s contract has 62 million  due to him left, plus the 30 million That the Tigers are paying to the Rangers the Tigers will be paying 92 mil. total. Fielder’s contract has 162 million due to him left, minus the 30 million the Tigers are paying 132 million. In my opinion the Rangers are getting the better player, however they are paying more money, so i’m asking YOU who got the better of this deal?
