    Rangers vs Canadiens Game 1

Even after the tragic loss of his mother Martin St. Louis smiled as he walked off the ice. With a 7-2 victory last night in Montreal the Rangers have taken away the Canadiens home-ice advantage and won their 4th straight game.”Emotionally, for us, that is something really strong right now,” Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said. “I know quite a few of our guys went to the wake (on Friday), and I texted with Marty last night to make sure that everything was good–He’s handled it in an incredible way that probably has helped our team come closer together. (Sunday) is going to be a tough day. We need to be there to support him, and we’ll do that and get ready for Monday.”

The 7-2 crushing defeat for Montreal is their worst loss since 2002.

RECAP OF GAME 7 OF THE PACIFIC DIVISION FINALS

    3 Kings at 1 Ducks

Game 7 of the Pacific Division Finals. Winner take all from Anaheim… and the Kings dominated in the spotlight one again. Improving their record in elimination games in the past 2 years to 7-1. Justin Williams, Jeff Carter and Mike Richards all scored for LA in an exciting 1st period. “We’re built for the playoffs, for sure,” Kings defenseman Drew Doughty said. “We struggled during the regular season. I don’t know the reason why, but we’re always ready for when it really counts.” Anze Kopitar, Marian Gaborik and Tanner Pearson also scored en route to 6-2 Kings dominating victory. Johnathon Quick came up huge for LA in the net with 25 saves and a 92.6 save percentage. The 2012 Stanley Cup champs jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the middle of the 2nd period and never looked back. “Really tough emotions right now,” said Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf, who scored one goal in the series. “They came out and played the way they can play. They know what they’re doing in these situations.” Ducks rookie goalie John Gibson let up 4 goals in the first 22:02 before being pulled for Jonas Hiller. “The first period was like men against boys, quite frankly,” Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau said. “They were bigger, stronger, more determined. Everything we said we didn’t want to do, we did.”

  • BLUES TAKE GAME 2 IN OT

BLUES TAKE GAME 2 IN OT

After Brent Seabrook viciously checked David Backes into the glass the Blues went on a 5-on-3 power play which ended when Vladimir Tarasenko scored a game-tying goal with 6.4 seconds left to send it to overtime. In the extra period Barret Jackman made the seeing-eye shot and the Blues win 4-3 in OT. Just two days ago the Blues won 4-3 over the ‘Hawks in triple OT. “It’s frustrating, but whatever. I’m not going to cry about it. We’ve just got to work harder.” said Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford of letting up the game-winning goal.

To be honest, I don’t think the defending champs can rebounds from being down 2-0 in the series but i’ve seen crazier things happen.

  • BLUES TAKE GAME 1 IN 3OT

BLUES TAKE GAME 1 IN 3OT

The 2 seeded Blues and the 3 seeded Blackhawks squared off in game one of their Divisional Semifinal series last night. And it was one of, if not the best hockey game I have ever watched. It started with a  minute and 45 seconds to play in the final period, down 3-2 and Blues wing Jaden Schwartz makes a beautiful goal from the right side and we would go to overtime. After 2, 20 minute periods of overtime we were still tied at 3. So we went to triple overtime. Now remember, in hockey it is sudden death. Under 30 seconds into the 3rd period, David Backes gets a rebounds off a missed Blues shot passes it Steve Ott, who no looks a little tap to St. Louis teammate Alexander Steen who scores!!!! BLUES WIN!! BLUES WIN!!! And St. Louis takes a 1-0 lead going in to game two (of seven).

In his 8th year in the NHL (1st with Stars) Stars center Rich Peverley collapsed on the bench after coming off of a shift. In September he underwent a procedure for an irregular heartbeat so this is pre-existing. Play was suspended. Our prayers go out to Rich.
