Tag Team Championship Match: The New Day (c) vs. The Usos

This is probably the toughest match to predict on this Royal Rumble show (outside of the Rumble itself). The New Day have held on to the titles for 5 months and it wouldn’t make sense for them to lose them here in a meaningless match against the Uso’s that has more New Day vs Chris Jericho in it than the actual teams competing. Then again this would be the match to put the belts on the Uso’s as it could be the Samoan Twins’ last shot at gold and we all know they love to pull big swerves at the Rumble. Nevertheless I’m sticking with the New Day heading towards Wrestlemania.

The Pick: New Day

Last Man Standing Match for the Intercontinental Championship: Dean Ambrose (c) vs. Kevin Owens

Oh. My. God. This match is going to be so damn good. A “Last Man Standing” match is a contest where you have to incapacitate your opponent enough so that they stay down for a count of 10, and these two are going to put it all out there, expect some absolutely crazy bumps. Ambrose beat Owens at Survivor Series. Ambrose beat Owens at TLC. So Ambrose will beat Owens here no matter the added stipulation. Owens should be in the main event title picture, let Ambrose get his victory here, go to Mania fighting someone like Chris Jericho and have Owens wreak havoc in the Rumble match later on in the night (more on that later).

The Pick: Dean Ambrose

United States Championship Match: Alberto Del Rio (c) vs. Kalisto

On January 11th, 2016 Kalisto beat Alberto Del Rio for the United States championship, the problem is on January 12th Del Rio got it right back, thus setting up this rubber match for the title on Sunday. This is probably the least interesting match on the card as Kalisto pretty obviously will pick up the gold, it’s the classic underdog story. He got a “fluke” win and since has been decimated, losing on the January 18th Raw to Sheamus and getting beat down on Smackdown by the League of Nations, therefore Kalisto will be the US Champ come Sunday Night.

The Pick: Kalisto

Divas Championship Match: Charlotte (c) vs. Becky Lynch

Finally! A well built up women’s story between two competitors that will put on a great match. The thing that was wrong with the “Divas Revolution” was the matches weren’t bad but they had no story behind them which completely drains the charisma, taking out some of the interesting parts of the match. The outcome of this match however should be Ric Flair trying to cheat, Becky knocks him down and Charlotte taking advantage of the distraction to pick up the win. It builds Charlotte as someone who doesn’t care what happens to her loved ones and the loss doesn’t look so bad for Becky.

The Pick: Charlotte

Royal Rumble Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

For starters there are only two announced people that have a real shot at winning: Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar. Sure Wyatt, Sheamus, Owens, Ambrose, and maybe even Del Rio have an outside shot at winning but lets be honest it’s between those two guys. Now there are some surprise entrants that could take home the gold like AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan (fingers crossed), an Undertaker return and of course the guy that is the Vegas favorite to win this match…Triple H. HHH was destroyed by Reigns at TLC and we haven’t seen him since on WWE TV. Would people like it? Probably not, but it makes sense from a story line perspective. If I were booking I’d have Lesnar be dumped out by Wyatt or Owens setting up his Wrestle Mania feud and have Reigns, battered, bruised, all the way from #1 alone in the ring and #30 is the game, HHH. He wins the title and  goes on to Wrestle Mania.

The Pick: HHH
