AVENGERS: Age Of Ultron MOVIE REVIEW

I saw this movie on opening night and didn’t have an article lined up for today so decided to try something different… HOPE YOU ENJOY!

THE REVIEW

The movie takes a page out of James Bond by jumping right into an action scene with the Avengers raiding one of hydra’s last remaining strongholds where they find Loki’s scepter, the unexpected key to creating robotic life . We learn early on that Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) plans on building “a suit of armor around the world”  A automated peacekeeping program named… Ultron. But Ultron takes a different approach to stopping war than Tony Stark would like thinking, if there are no people, there are no wars.

Ultron, voiced by James Spader (plus a huge robotic filter) certainly looks cool. He is accompanied by Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver  as antagonists (at first, the two turn good after learning Ultron’s master plan) who don’t get as much backstory as I would have liked. Scarlet Witch’s telepathy sends the Avengers reeling by making them think about their greatest fears and Quicksilver darts around stunning “earth’s mightiest heroes.”The Avengers go accross the globe from America to Africa to Europe searching for Ultron. The movie did good, putting a focus on civilians caught in the crossfire, a touch I really enjoyed. But the CGI was a bit tiresome in the multiple encounters. The gang then stops at Hawkeye’s farmhouse that is “off the grid” and we see the growing relationship between Bruce Banner and Black Widow. At this point, as well as the party before Ultron is found were two of the more entertaining scenes, taking a break from action. I’ll stop here so I don’t spoil  EVERYTHING but I encourage you to see this movie

END RESULT: It didn’t meet my expectations but my expectations were sky high, following my favorite movie of all time. It was still a fantastic movie.
