Saints at Colts
Both teams are coming off of big games. The Saints handed the Atlanta Falcons their first loss of the year, and the Colts played the Patriots tough, eventually falling 34-27. The Colts sit at 3-3 on the year with the Saints right behind them at 2-4. Drew Brees will have a BIG game against a weak Colts secondary, but in the end Frank Gore and Andrew Luck pick up the W.

The surprise 3-0 Falcons welcome the Texans to Atlanta in a NFC South VS AFC South battle. Both teams are coming off of double digit wins the Cowboys and the Buccaneers respectively and this should be a fun one. I really like the new style coach Dan Quinn has brought to the Falcons, who are tied with the Panthers for first in the NFC South. The Falcons improved immensely on the defensive side of the ball. The Texans (1-2) were considered a sleeper team coming into this year and Ryan Mallet has done much better than expected. I could definitely see the upset here but in the end Houston lacks a Desmond Trufant type of player and Trufant takes advantage of Mallet to get a game sealing INT. The Pick: Falcons

Last week was one of the craziest weeks we have ever seen, with many many upsets. It was the first time the Raiders, Jaguars, Buccaneers, Redskins, and Browns won on the same day. In what should be one of the most entertaining Monday Night Football games this year the 2-0 Green Bay Packers take on the 1-1 (one crazy fumble away from 2-0) Kansas City Chiefs. The Green Bay Packers star studded offense, who will be without starting running back Eddie Lacy will face a very good Kansas City defense. I think Jamaal Charles will carve up this Packers defense and make this a much closer game than people expect. I’ll give the edge to the home Packers.

I’m so glad Football is back. Last week was full of highly contested games and last second finishes. This week’s Game Of The Week is a rematch of last year’s NFC Championship Game. The Seahawks lost against the Rams in overtime and Green Bay won a closer than expected game against the Chicago Bears. Seattle’s secondary which is widely considered the best in the league looked extremely vulnerable at times last night, look for James Jones do have another big game. The defending NFC Champs offensive line also looked vulnerable last week, with QB Russell Wilson being sacked 6 times. Green Bay’s run defense looked bad last week, letting up almost 200 yards.

Here are my NFL Picks for Week 1, hope you enjoy!
A Survivor pool is a pool in which you pick a team to win each week, the catch is once you pick a team you can’t pick them again. I went to the Final 2 of a thirty some person league last year and want to share my insight with you.
The Week 1 Pick is: Panthers over Jaguars. While the majority of people are picking the Packers this week, I would prefer to save that team for later and go for the less talented Panthers who are nearly guaranteed a home win over the struggling Jaguars.

In the Week 1 Game Of The Week we see the Ravens traveling to Denver to take on the Broncos in a matchup of 2014 playoff squads. Over the offseason the Ravens lost Torrey Smith and traded away Haloti Ngata. They drafted Breshad Perriman and Timmy Jernigan to try and fill those holes.The stout Baltimore defense including Terrell Suggs and Courtney Ushaw as edge rushers, will be put to the test early by Denver’s experienced offense. After considering retirement Peyton Manning is back for possibly his final season, however the main star of the offense is CJ Anderson, who will a lot of weight put on him as Manning isn’t getting any younger. With Julius Thomas and Wes Welker gone the Patriots now look to former Ravens player Owen Daniels to take some of the stress off Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders. The Broncos might have the best defense in the league with Von Miller, DeMarcus Ware, Aquib Talib, Brandon Marshall, and much more talent. In a closer game than people expect, I’m taking The Broncos, 21-13.

We roll into Week 3 into the preseason, the week when starters see the most time. And this game might be the best contest of the entire preseason. It will be interesting to watch how the Packers play without Jordy Nelson who suffered a ACL Tear and the Eagles have been awesome this preseason averaging 38 points per game. Although the Packers aren’t likely to play starters as much as normal because of the injury this should be a exciting game. My Prediction: Eagles 34, Packers 23
