  • TALK OF THE TOWN 2/16: A SLAM DUNK? (1ST ARTICLE IN CSD NEW FORMAT)- SLAM DUNK CONTEST REVIEW

TALK OF THE TOWN 2/16: A SLAM DUNK? (1ST ARTICLE IN CSD NEW FORMAT)- SLAM DUNK CONTEST REVIEW

Let’s start out with 6 words everyone can agree on: The new Dunk Contest format sucks.

It does!, I for one absolutely hate it, it takes all the fun out of it because there is no 1 official winner! No championship round or anything like that, PLEASE GO BACK TO THE OLD FORMAT! But anyway here we go!

Basically it’s east versus west not every man for himself.

    Teams

East- Paul George, Terrance Ross, John Wall
West-  Harrison Barnes, Ben McLemore, Damian Lillard

FREESTYLE ROUND (90 seconds per conference)

    GOOD DUNKS (EAST)

Let’s start with John Wall throwing the alley-oop pass to Paul George who does a sick windmill! Then the East go double-oop, Ross throws it off the glass who throws it off the shot clock to George who goes up and does a hard one handed tomahawk slam!

    GOOD DUNKS (WEST)

Let’s start with Ben McLemore doing a little self-oop and throwing down the tomahawk jam! Then arguably the best dunk of the Freestyle round went to Damian Lillard who throws a self-oop then goes between the legs and finishes with the jam! Then McLemore does a self oop but this time finishes with a windmill!

THE EAST WON THE FREESTYLE ROUND.

Note: The freestyle round only matters in the sense that you can pick which order you dunk in in the battle round

    BATTLE ROUND (3 1v1 competitions)

    Lillard vs Ross

Ross won this round easily when he took the ball from Drake (rapper) and went between the legs! East 1 West 0

    Barnes vs George

After Barnes did what was probably the worst dunk of the night George did possibly the best he went from the corner and did a 360 between-the-legs JAM! East 2 West 0

    McLemore vs Wall

Let’s start with McLemore’s slam. He had Shaq  sit down in a throne then McLemore jumped over the throne and stuffed the one-handed jam! Can Wall top that to give the East the win or do we go to OT (you need 3 to win) Wall has the Wizards mascot (G-Man) hold the ball over his head, Wall jumps over G-Man takes the ball and does a reverse slam, remember all over the mascot! The judges converse and come out and give Wall the win! The East sweep it! East 3, West 0

Dunker of the Night: John Wall

  • STEP UP TO THE PLATE FEATURING JOHN FARRELL’S KEYS TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP (HOW THE SOX WON IT ALL)

STEP UP TO THE PLATE FEATURING JOHN FARRELL’S KEYS TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP (HOW THE SOX WON IT ALL)

Recently I was fortunate enough to participate in an event called step up to the plate in Charlottesville with the preseason #1 Virginia Baseball team with guest speaker John Farrell and something that Farrell said repeatedly was that it wasn’t one guy. And that is true, the Red Sox had multiple guys contributing game in and game out, and you need that. Another thing was the lockerroom chemistry if all your guys enjoy playing with eachother and no  one is full of himself things go a LOT smoother because you have less off the field distractions. The 3rd piece Farrell said was that the team had the confidence that even though they wern’t the most talented team they put in the work and became the best team in the MLB. Now with the moment of the night, the best story he told. The story begins with some Red Sox players in a cab and the cabbie is going really fast and Dustin Pedroia put’s his hand on the cabbie and says, slow down, do you know who’s in this car? And the cabbie’s like no I have no idea who you are and Pedroia says this is your 2013 World Series champion Boston Redsox! By the way this was in April, the World Series is in October, 6 months away. Either Pedroia can see the future or he and his team have enourmos amounts of confidence. Confidence is key to winning a title.

NOTE: These were not Farrells EXACT words
