CSD Prime College Football Computer Rankings Week 13 – Top Five Shakup

A reminder, as always, these rankings DO NOT reflect a team’s resume, or even whether they have won or lost, they are solely used to measure a team’s strength in the sense Vegas would to set lines. Thus, team talent remains an important variable throughout the season,. Additionally, recent games are weighted more heavily, and if you are lucky or don’t look good in a win, you may fall, while if you look good or are unlucky in a loss, you may rise. Let’s get into it.

#17 Texas (2-0) vs Indiana (2-0) in Asheville, NC

    1:30 PM ET, ESPN
    Maui Invitational Semifinal

I rated both of these teams fairly equally coming into the week (Texas 18th, Indiana 27th), but yesterday the Hoosiers inched past Texas in my rankings. IU blew out a decent Providence team while Texas was taken buzzer to buzzer by Davidson. I love Texas’ defense and their ability to get to the line, but the Hoosiers are a fundamentally sound team that refuses to turn the ball over. Trayce Jackson-Davis is a legit All-American contender, and the Hoosiers crushed Providence despite a poor performance from him. This will be close, but I’m taking the Hoosiers.

    Pick: Indiana

USC (2-0) vs BYU (3-0) in Uncasville, CT
    2:30 PM ET, ESPN2

    Pick: BYU

#14 North Carolina (2-0) vs Stanford (1-0) in Asheville, NC

    4 PM ET, ESPN
    Maui Invitational Semifinal

North Carolina was beaten off the block by UNLV last night, falling behind 13-0, but the Tar Heels rallied to end up winning by 27. They take on a Stanford program that flew under the radar this summer but impressed with an 82-64 opening win vs Alabama last night. The Cardinal have a claim to be the best defensive team in America outside of Virginia, but their propensity to turn the ball the over scares me a lot. UNC has a solid mix of talented freshmen and experienced seniors, and I’ll side with Roy Williams and the Tar Heels since I’m already picking an upset in the other game, but it wouldn’t shock me if we had a Stanford-Indiana final.

    Pick: North Carolina

Davidson (1-1) vs Providence (1-1) in Asheville, NC
    7 PM ET, ESPN2
    Maui Invitational Consolation Semifinal

    Pick: Providence

    Oklahoma State (2-0) @ Marquette (2-0)
    7 PM ET, FS1

    Pick: Marquette

    #8 Michigan State (2-0) @ #6 Duke (1-0)

    7:30 PM ET, ESPN

Duke looked far from impressive in an 81-71 home victory over lowly Coppin State on Saturday. The Blue Devils were consistently beat inside and were out-efforted by a program that consistently ranks among the worst in college basketball. With that being said, I was high on Duke before the season, and I’m not going to overreact to a one game sample size, especially a win. Jalen Johnson and DJ Steward are a pair of potential All-Americans for the Blue Devils, and the home-court will be the difference in this top ten showdown.

    Pick: Duke

UNLV (0-2) vs Alabama (1-1) in Asheville, NC
    9:30 PM ET, ESPN2
    Maui Invitational Consolation Semifinal

    Pick: Alabama

#20 Kentucky (1-1) vs #7 Kansas (1-1) in Indianapolis, IN

    9:30 PM ET, ESPN

Not only did Kentucky lose to Richmond on Sunday, but the Wildcats looked awful doing it. John Calipari’s crew shot a disastrous 0-10 from long distance and turned the ball over 21 times (!). The Wildcats run into a Kansas team that dropped their opener to #1 Gonzaga but rebounded with a 94-72 beatdown of Saint Joseph’s the day after. I am firm in my conviction that Marcus Garrett is the best defender in college basketball, and he will lead the Jayhawks to victory here, dropping UK to 1-2 on the year.

    Pick: Kansas

    Wednesday, December 2nd

Indiana (2-1) vs Stanford (1-1) in Asheville, NC
    1:30 PM ET, ESPN
    Maui Invitational Third Place Game

    Pick: Indiana

#17 Texas (3-0) vs #14 North Carolina (3-0) in Asheville, NC

    4 PM ET, ESPN
    Maui Invitational Championship

Texas proved me wrong yesterday, dominating the Indiana team I picked to upset the Longhorns. It was a full team effort; Matt Coleman led the ‘Horns with 16 points, and sixth man Brock Cunningham added six and 11 rebounds. UT ended up with a 66-44 win, a dominating performance over a talented IU offense that averaged 74 points in their first two games.

As for North Carolina, the Tar Heels struggled with turnovers again (24!), but narrowly escaped a good Stanford squad 67-63. Playing their third game in three days, I am a little worried about UNC’s lack of bench play. Roy Williams’ group only had eight bench points vs the Cardinal. A sloppy, inexperienced team like the Tar Heels seems like easy prey for Texas’ superb defense. Expect Shaka Smart’s crew to pick up the win, securing the Maui Invitional title and a 4-0 start heading into a huge game against Villanova on Sunday.

    Pick: Texas

    Seton Hall (1-1) @ Rhode Island (2-2)
    7 PM ET, CBSSN

    Pick: Seton Hall

#11 West Virginia (3-0) vs #1 Gonzaga (2-0) in Indianapolis, IN

    7 PM ET, ESPN

West Virginia looked great in Sioux Falls, sweeping three excellent mid-major programs: SDSU, VCU, and Western Kentucky, with ease. The Mountaineers are led by the best big man duo in the country: Derek Culver and Oscar Tshiebwe, and have an absurd 43% offensive rebound rate this year.

With that being said, I do have concerns about WVU, mainly, their shooting, which struggled in South Dakota. There is a reason the big men got so many offensive boards. Gonzaga has looked like the surefire best team in America so far this year; Jalen Suggs and Drew Timme are both potential players of the year, and Joel Ayayi and Corey Kispert aren’t far behind.

I like this West Virginia team a lot, but I’m not sure I will pick anyone to beat Gonzaga all year. Give me the Bulldogs.

    Pick: Gonzaga

Providence (2-1) vs Alabama (2-1) in Asheville, NC
    7 PM ET, ESPN
    Maui Invitational Fifth Place Game

    Pick: Providence

#21 Oregon (0-0) vs Missouri (1-0) in Omaha, NE
    9 PM ET, FS1

    Pick: Oregon

#5 Illinois (3-0) vs #2 Baylor (2-0) in Indianapolis, IN

    10 PM ET, ESPN

After beating their first two opponents by a combined 121 points, Illinois received a wakeup call on Saturday, needing last second heroics to escape with a 77-75 win over Ohio. The Illini now run into the #2 team in the country, the Baylor Bears. I love Illinois’ awesome scoring duo of Kofi Cockburn and Ayo Dosunmu, but the close call against Ohio worries me a lot. Baylor, meanwhile, dominated a good Washington team 86-52 their last time out, and is currently shooting at almost exactly the same clip as Illinois, against much tougher competition. These are two top-ten teams playing on a neutral court, so it should be a good one, but I’m trusting the better defensive team when both teams can score, and that is Baylor by a mile.

    Pick: Baylor

    Thursday, December 3rd

UConn (2-0) vs USC (3-0) in Uncasville, CT
    7 PM ET, ESPN

    Pick: USC

    Friday, December 4th

    #4 Wisconsin (3-0) @ Marquette (2-1)

    7 PM ET, FS1

This pick seems out of left field. Marquette just dropped a home game to Oklahoma State, Wisconsin is in the top-five, but in a college basketball season as crazy as this, you have to take some risks, and I think this Marquette squad is too good to start 2-2. DJ Carton is a high volume shooter that is clearly being positioned as the next Markus Howard, and Dawson Garcia is the best freshman in the Big East. At home, against a Wisconsin squad that lacks a star, I’ll pick my first major upset of the year.

    Pick: Marquette

#21 Oregon (0-1) vs Seton Hall (1-2) in Omaha, NE
    9 PM ET, FS1

    Pick: Oregon

    Saturday, December 5th

#1 Gonzaga (3-0) vs #2 Baylor (3-0) in Chicago, IL

    1 PM ET, CBS

Its always huge when #1 faces #2, but especially so this early in the season, as the winner of this will position themselves as the team to beat as the calendar turns to 2021. Both squads are coming off of impressive performances on Wednesday night. Baylor handled Illinois 82-69 and never felt in true danger, while Gonzaga, playing without star PG Jalen Suggs due to injury for much of the game, trailed by as much as nine to West Virginia before coming back to win 87-82.

These are clearly the two best teams in the country, and might be in a league of their own, so getting them head-to-head on a neutral court is a huge game that may have #1 overall seed implications down the line. For Baylor, the offense is playing better than anyone in the country this year. The Bears rank top ten in both three-point percentage (47.3) and offensive rebound percentage (46). As for Gonzaga, the Bulldogs like to run. Mark Few’s group plays with one of the fastest tempos in the country, and the Bulldogs take and make efficient shots. This should be a close, fun game, but to me the difference is the height of the Zags, along with the fact that Baylor struggles from the free-throw line. In a game shaping up to be as close as this, that’s huge.

    Pick: Gonzaga

    SMU (3-0) @ Dayton (1-0)
    2 PM ET, ESPN+

    Pick: Dayton

    Sunday, December 6th

    #12 Villanova (3-1) @ #17 Texas (4-0)

    1 PM ET, ESPN

So, uh, Texas is back? The Longhorns come into this one fresh off of a Maui Invitational victory, wherein they beat Davidson, Indiana, and North Carolina in the span of three days. The Longhorns are led by sharpshooting senior Matt Coleman, who had 22 points in the win over North Carolina on Wednesday. The Longhorns are a deep time, with two significant contributors: Kai Jones and Brock Cunningham, coming off the bench every game. I still really like this Villanova team, led by sophomore Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, but the Wildcats have struggled on defense this year, and against a Texas team that may play the best defense in the country, I expect Jay Wright’s Wildcats to drop to 3-2 on the season.

    Pick: Texas

    Xavier (5-0) @ Cincinnati (1-0)
    3 PM ET, ESPN

    Pick: Cincinnati

    Oklahoma (1-0) @ TCU (4-0)
    4 PM ET, ESPN2

These two teams may be out of the national title hunt, but this game still has huge implications for the Big 12 title scene. A Texas win will complicate things greatly, leaving four teams tied with two Big 12 losses, while an ISU victory means we are likely headed for an Iowa State-Oklahoma final.

I like this Iowa State team a lot, the offense is among the best in the conference, but the Cyclones are on the road here, and the Texas defense has been improving in recent weeks. I expect the Longhorns to do enough to slow down Breece Hall, and for UT to throw a wrench in the Cyclones’ Big 12 aspirations.

    #2 Notre Dame (8-0, 7-0 ACC) @ #19 North Carolina (6-2, 6-2 ACC)

    3:30 PM ET, ABC
    Vegas Line: Notre Dame -4

The game of the week for week 13 comes from the ACC, as Notre Dame, fresh off a #2 placement in the first CFP playoff rankings, travels to face their toughest test left in the regular season: North Carolina.

The Tar Heels can put up points. No one outside of Clemson has an offense at the level of UNC among Notre Dame’s opponents this year. Sam Howell is the most efficient QB in the conference, and the run game is stout. That being said, the Tar Heel defense is light, to put in nicely. UNC let up over 240 rushing yards to Florida State, they got outplayed from start to finish against Virginia (210 rushing yards) and throttled by VT in a close win (260 rushing yards). The Irish will run all over UNC, and while Sam Howell will keep up his end, the defense will break one too many times.

CSD Pick: Notre Dame 40, North Carolina 36

    Kentucky (3-5 SEC) @ #6 Florida (6-1 SEC)

    12 PM ET, ESPN
    Vegas Line: Florida -24

Kentucky is better than the 63-3 loss they were handed by Alabama last weekend, but they are not good enough to beat a national title contender like Florida on the road. The Gators’ offense, led by Kyle Trask, may be the best in the country. Expect UF to dominate this one from start to finish.

CSD Pick: Florida 43, Kentucky 21

Maryland (2-1 Big Ten) @ #12 Indiana (4-1 Big Ten)
    12 PM ET, ESPN2
    Vegas Line: Indiana -10.5

Who would have thought this would be a game for #2 in the Big Ten East? Not me, that’s for sure. Maryland is coming off of a two-week quarantine due to COVID, and now have to go on the road to take on an Indiana team that is fresh off of taking Ohio State to the limit. 10.5 points is too short of a line.

Aptly nicknamed the “Sickos Game of the Week”, these two underperforming Big Ten programs will square off on national TV for all to see. Both of these squads are reeling, but at least Michigan has won this year, plus, the Wolverines are at home. Backup QB Cade McNamara looked solid against Rutgers last week, and he will lead Michigan to a win to drop Penn State to 0-6.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban will miss this game after testing positive for COVID. Will that be the difference between a win and a loss? Probably not, but it might be enough for a solid Auburn team to keep this one tighter than the 26 point spread. Bo Nix has been improving in recent weeks, and while Alabama will roll, they won’t quite cover.

CSD Pick: Alabama 44, Auburn 25

Pitt has been one of the most up-and-down teams in the nation this year, and following their blowout win against Virginia Tech last week, I’m up on them again! The Panthers have been a top-five team in the ACC since the return of Kenny Pickett, and while Clemson will pick up a commanding win in Trevor Lawrence’s return, it won’t be by the 26-point margin the experts set the odds at.

Northwestern is legit. The game against Wisconsin last Saturday wasn’t pretty, but the Wildcats got the job done in a 17-7 win. I trust NU to avoid being caught sleeping, even on the road, and for the Wildcats to cover the 10.5 point spread against a bad Michigan State team.

    Vegas Line: Louisville -1

This should be one of the closer games of the day. Boston College has been one of the bigger surprises of the season. The offense is soli and the defense can force turnovers. Against a Louisville team that has taken a big step back this year, I expect the Golden Eagles to improve to 6-4, something that would have stunned me before the season.

    LSU (3-3 SEC) @ #5 Texas A&M (5-1 SEC)

Texas A&M seems to be in a decent position to capitalize if anyone in the top four slips up, but they have to avoid slipping up themselves. LSU is probably better than most people give them credit for, but on the road, I just can’t see them keeping up with A&M’s high powered offense. I expect the Aggies to improve to 6-1, as they now just sit and hope for some chaos in front of them.

Georgia was one of the bigger surprises of the first CFP rankings. The Bulldogs seem likely to control their own destiny to a New Year’s Six bowl. They need to get through South Carolina on the road first, though. The Gamecocks struggled in their first game post-Will Muschamp, and Georgia looked great with QB JT Daniels at the helm. I don’t expect an upset.

    College Basketball Picks Week 1 – (Nov 25-Nov 29)

    Wednesday, November 25th

Memphis vs. Saint Mary’s in Sioux Falls, SD
    2 PM ET, ESPN2
    Crossover Classic Quarterfinal

Memphis didn’t live up to expectations last year, and the best players are gone from that team. Meanwhile, Randy Bennett’s Gaels are one of the most consistent teams in college basketball. I expect SMC, led by an offense that can shoot well and won’t turn the ball over, to pull what some may consider an upset to open up the Crossover Classic.

    Pick: Saint Mary’s

Northern Iowa vs Western Kentucky in Sioux Falls, SD
    4:30 PM ET, ESPNU
    Crossover Classic Quarterfinal

The big names are missing, but the Crossover Classic has turned into a tournament of some of the very best mid-majors in the country. I love it. Both of these teams should be favored to win their conference and be trendy upset picks in March. WKU has a ton of talent for a C-USA team, but struggled on the defensive end mightily last year. I expect UNI, coached by Ben Jacobson, to be ready for this game. Defense will be the difference.

    Pick: Northern Iowa

Liberty vs Purdue in Melbourne, FL
    6 PM ET, CBSSN
    Space Coast Challenge Semifinal

Liberty will lose some key pieces from last year’s 30-4 team; the Flames had three seniors in their starting five. However, they should be poised to win the ASUN again. That being said, Purdue, led be Trevion Williams, will cruise to win in Melbourne as the talent gap between these two programs is just too large.

    Pick: Purdue

#15 West Virginia vs South Dakota State in Sioux Falls, SD
    7 PM ET, ESPN2
    Crossover Classic Quarterfinal

South Dakota State held steady in the first year post-Mike Daum. The Jackrabbits went 22-10 and finished in a tie atop the Summit League standings despite a starting five entirely consisted of underclassmen. SDSU will be the Summit League favorites this year, and will be a dangerous mid-major for years to come, but West Virginia is clearly the best team in Sioux Falls this week. Oscar Tshiebwe and Derek Culver (combined 21.6 PPG, 17.6 RPG) are one of the best big men duos in the country, and PG Miles McBride looks poised for a breakout year. I expect the Mountaineers to cruise.

    Pick: West Virginia

Clemson vs Mississippi State in Melbourne, FL
    8:30 PM ET, CBSSN
    Space Coast Challenge Semifinal

Some high roster turnover, most notably Reggie Perry, means that I expect a down year for Mississippi State. Expect Clemson, led by an awesome two-way center, Aamir Simms, to kick off their tournament resume with a victory. I expect a big step forward for Brad Brownell’s Tigers this year.

    Pick: Clemson

Utah State vs VCU in Sioux Falls, SD
    9:30 PM ET, ESPN2
    Crossover Classic Quarterfinal

VCU loses four starters from a 2019-20 squad that already was on the downswing (1-7 in their last eight games). Utah State, meanwhile, does lose some key pieces, including Sam Merrill, but brings back Neemias Queta, a big man with a ton of potential that only played 22 games last year due to injury. Queta, along with the the efficient Justin Bean, will lead the Aggies to a victory here, although I expect both programs to take a step back in 2020.

    Pick: Utah State

#22 UCLA @ San Diego State
    11 PM ET, CBSSN

With the cancellation of Arizona State-Baylor, this is the game of the day on Wednesday. UCLA, led by Mick Cronin, won 11 of their last 14 games a season ago and returns every starter, but they have to go on the road to take on a San Diego State team that comes off an awesome 30-2 year. The best player on that team, Malachi Flynn, is gone, but Matt Mitchell (12.2 PPG) returns, and the Aztecs bring in a Cal State Northridge transfer, Terrell Gomez, who averaged close to 20 a game last year. I think the homecourt is the difference and SDSU pulls the upset.

    Pick: San Diego State

    Thursday, November 26th

Memphis (1-0) vs Western Kentucky (1-0) in Sioux Falls, SD
    12 PM ET, ESPN
    Crossover Classic Semifinal

After dropping behind 8-0 early, Memphis rallied against Saint Mary’s, and Boogie Ellis put up 24 points off the bench (including 18 from deep) to lift the Tigers to an impressive 73-56 victory over Randy Bennett’s Gaels. For Western Kentucky, freshman Dayvion McKnight was the guy, leading the Hilltoppers with 21 points, four rebounds, and three assists. That being said, the talent gap will just be too big here. Expect Memphis to advance to the title game.

    Pick: Memphis

#6 Kansas vs #1 Gonzaga in Fort Myers, FL
    1:30 PM ET, FOX

The game of the week will take place (knock on wood) early on Thanksgiving’s afternoon as Kansas faces off against Gonzaga in one of the best non-conference matchups of the season. I’m higher on Kansas than most, the Jayhawks were the best team in college basketball last year and while they do lose some key pieces, they return some too, including the best defender in the sport: Marcus Garrett. Five-star Bryce Thompson joins the squad along with a talented cast of returnees highlighted by Ochia Agbaji, David McCormack, and Christian Braun.

KU, though, will run into the juggernaut that is Gonzaga. I’ve said it since the day that the 2020 NCAA Tournament was canceled: 2021 is Gonzaga’s year. Corey Kispert and Joel Ayayi are one of the best returning duos in the country, and if you talk to anyone connected to west coast basketball they will talk to you endlessly about the potential of sophomore Drew Timme, who had limited scoring opportunities last year behind Filip Petrusev but could blossom into a star. That’s not to mention the best recruiting class in Gonzaga history, led by five-star guard Jalen Suggs. The high roster turnover for Kansas (Devon Dotson + Udoka Azbuike are gone) and Gonzaga’s upside leads me to lean Bulldogs, but these two teams are talented enough that a rematch in Indianapolis is very possible.

    Pick: Gonzaga

#15 West Virginia (1-0) vs VCU (1-0) in Sioux Falls, SD
    2:30 PM ET, ESPN
    Crossover Classic Semifinal

VCU impressed me in their upset victory over Utah State on Wednesday. The Rams were buoyed by a 42% clip from long-distance and a strong 23 point performance from sophomore Nah’shon Hyland. That being said, this is still a very young VCU squad, and I don’t expect them to be able to keep up with the experience and depth of West Virginia. Expect Miles McBride and the Mountaineers to march into the Crossover Classic title game.

    Pick: West Virginia

#3 Villanova (1-0) vs #18 Arizona State (1-0) in Uncasville, CT
    9:30 PM ET, ESPN
    2K Empire Classic Championship

Both of these teams struggled with inferior competition on Wednesday, but you could see the makings of why both squads are highly rated. For Arizona State, it is all centered around Remy Martin, the Sun Devils’ senior leader. Martin put up 26 points and added six boards and five assists in ASU’s 94-88 win over Rhode Island.

As for Villanova, anyone could’ve told you that Jeremiah Robinson-Earl was a prime candidate for a breakout season, and he showed why in his very first game out of the gate, putting up 18 points and adding ten boards for what will be the first of many double-doubles for him this year.

I loved Villanova’s “put your head down and grind” attitude after going down to BC, and I just do not trust Arizona State’s defense. The Sun Devils struggled to close on shooters in space vs URI and could not stop fouling to save their lives. Jay Wright’s offense is just too good for the ASU D, and the Wildcats will leave Bubbleville unbeaten.

    Pick: Villanova

Purdue (1-0) vs Clemson (1-0) in Melbourne, FL
    8:30 PM ET, CBSSN
    Space Coast Challenge Championship

The Clemson offense struggled against Mississippi State on Wednesday (5-24 from deep), the good news, Mississippi State struggled even more, and the Tigers squeaked by with a 53-42 win. However, Brad Brownell’s group runs into a much better Purdue team, led by freshman Zach Edey (19 points in his debut). I’ll take the Boilermakers to win the Space Coast Challenge, big.

    Pick: Purdue

    Friday, November 27th

Western Kentucky (2-0) vs #15 West Virginia (2-0) in Sioux Falls, SD
    1:30 PM ET, ESPN
    Crossover Classic Championship

Both of these squads have impressed, beating two quality opponents to reach the championship of the Crossover Classic, one of just a handful of tournaments that remained post-pandemic. For WKU, the names to know are former top-ten prospect Charles Bassey and stud freshman Dayvion McKnight. The Hilltoppers are incredibly talented for a C-USA team, but with that being said, they run into a West Virginia squad that is playing like a top-ten team in the country this year. Derek Culver is playing like a potential All-American, and young guns Miles McBride and Oscar Tshiebwe have been dominating the competition in Sioux Falls. I expect WVU’s suffocating defense to get the Mountaineers a victory here, but it may be closer than most think.

    Pick: West Virginia

    Seton Hall @ Louisville (1-0)
    4 PM ET, ESPN2

Louisville was dominant in a 79-44 throbbing of Evansville to open the season. Senior leader Carlik Jones was the star, putting up 18 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists against the Purple Aces. We still have not seen Seton Hall play, but the Pirates lose one of the best players in school history: Myles Powell, and they’ll be on the road. Louisville improves to 2-0.

    Pick: Louisville

    Saturday, November 28th

    LSU (1-0) @ Saint Louis (1-0)
    3 PM ET, ESPN+

Both of these teams opened their seasons with big wins over SIU Edwardsville, and they now meet in the premier game of this St. Louis based MTE. The Billikens looked stronger in their opener, dominating en route to an 89-52 win thanks to a turnover-creating defense. That being said, the LSU offense may just be too much. The Tigers are among the best shooting teams in the country (62.1 eFG%) and won’t turn the ball over like SIU Edwardsville did. I think Will Wade’s group picks up a road win, but close.

    Pick: LSU

#3 Villanova (2-0) vs Virginia Tech (1-0) in Uncasville, CT
    8 PM ET, ESPNU

Villanova opened their season with an impressive performance in the 2K Empire Classic, which was highlighted by an 83-74 win over Arizona State on Thanksgiving night. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl (28 points, eight rebounds) looked like a legit player of the year contender. I expect an improved year for Mike Young’s Hokies as he establishes his culture, but they won’t be able to keep up with the Wildcats.

    Pick: Villanova

    Sunday, November 29th

    #17 Houston (2-0) @ #14 Texas Tech (2-0)
    5 PM ET, ESPN

Houston took care of a solid Boise State team on Friday, 68-58. The Cougars, led by Quentin Grimes (25 points, eight rebounds) dominated the Broncos from start to finish. UH will need to travel to take on an awesome Texas Tech team that has crushed their competition so far this year by a combined score of 185-110. These two teams are both second-weekend caliber, but Texas Tech’s defense will be the difference as the Red Raiders knock off Houston.

    Pick: Texas Tech

    Arlington, TX
    At-Large vs. At-Large
Bowl Projection: Oklahoma vs. Texas A&M

After blowing out Oklahoma State on Saturday, the Sooners look to be on a glide path to the Big 12 title and the New Year’s Six spot that comes with it. I have them facing Texas A&M. The Aggies may lose another game, Auburn and LSU remain on the schedule, but even then a NY6 spot seems likely

    Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl

January 1st, 12:30 PM ET, ESPN
    Atlanta, GA
    At-Large vs. At-Large
    Bowl Projection: Northwestern vs. Georgia

Northwestern and Georgia both should have no trouble bowling through the rest of their regular-season schedule, with Northwestern having a shot to make the playoff if the Wildcats can knock off Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship Game.

    PlayStation Fiesta Bowl

January 2nd, 4 PM ET, ESPN

    At-Large vs. At-Large
    Bowl Projection: BYU vs. USC

After Oregon’s rough performance on Saturday, I am changing my Pac-12 champion projection to USC. The Trojans will take on BYU here, a team that is all but certain to finish unbeaten, with just a game against SDSU remaining.

    Capital One Orange Bowl

January 2nd, 8 PM ET, ESPN

ACC vs. Big Ten or SEC
Bowl Projection: Notre Dame vs. Florida

This is the only NY6 game this year with tie-ins, as an ACC team must face a team from the Big Ten or SEC. The loser of the ACC Title game will likely slot in here, as will the loser of the SEC Title game, barring either making the playoff.

    Rose Bowl (Semifinal)

January 1st, 5 PM ET, ESPN
    Pasadena, CA
    CFP vs. CFP
Bowl Projection: Ohio State vs. Clemson

Both of these teams will be significant favorites in each of their remaining games before facing tough competition in their respective title games. I do, however, expect each to get through unscathed.

    Allstate Sugar Bowl (Semifinal)

January 1st, 8:45 PM ET, ESPN
    New Orleans, LA
    CFP vs. CFP
    Projection: Alabama vs. Cincinnati

For Cincinnati to make the playoff, a lot needs to happen: Notre Dame needs to lose twice (or Clemson needs to lose once), Alabama needs to beat Florida, the Pac-12 champ needs to have a loss, and Texas A&M needs to lose a game. It is starting to feel not as far-fetched as it once did for the Bearcats to crash the CFP party.

A reminder, as always, these rankings DO NOT reflect a team’s resume, or even whether they have won or lost, they are solely used to measure a team’s strength in the sense Vegas would to set lines. Additionally, recent games are weighted more heavily, and if you are lucky or don’t look good in a win, you may fall, while if you look good or are unlucky in a loss, you may rise. College Basketball Preview, Preseason Bracketology, More

    1-68 Rankings

    1) Gonzaga (Projected WCC Winner)

Mark Few has proved the doubters wrong over the past four years, which have featured three finishes in the KenPom top-two and a trip to the national title game. However, the Zags have never been able to cut down the nets and win that elusive national title. This is the year. Corey Kispert returns after a big 2019, Jalen Suggs is the best recruit in Gonzaga history, and Drew Timmie and Joel Ayayi are ready to step into the spotlight. This is the best team in the country

    2) Villanova (Projected Big East Winner)

Villanova has won two national titles in the past four tournaments, and Jay Wright has a chance to join an exclusive club of three-time winners this year. Collin Gillespie and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl return, and only Saddiq Bey is gone from a team that probably would have been a two seed last year. This team will contend for a title.

    3) Kansas (Projected Big 12 Winner)

The Jayhawks were the best team in college basketball last year, and while Devon Dotson and Udoka Azubuike are gone from that team, the best defender in college basketball, Marcus Garrett, will return. Freshman Bryce Thompson needs to step into a bigger role if this team is to be a national title contender, but KU is loaded with young studs.

    4) Baylor

The Bears went 26-4 last year and would have been a one seed, and they look poised to have a similarly great season this year. Jared Butler and MaCio Teague are both back, and Tristan Clark will step into a bigger role after a brutal injury two years ago. The Bears will challenge Kansas for the Big 12 crown.

    5) Duke (Projected ACC Winner)

There is no better bet in college basketball than the Blue Devils. Duke has not finished outside of the top-20 in the KenPom era, and have a median ranking of 4th. That’s absurd. This year’s freshman trio: Jalen Johnson, Jeremy Roach, and DJ Steward, probably aren’t at the level of recent recruiting classes, but Mike Krzyzewski always seems to figure things out.

    6) Virginia

It’s a common misconception among college basketball fans that because Virginia’s offense doesn’t put up points to the level of other top programs, the Cavaliers have a bad offense. That’s not actually true generally, but the Virginia offense was legitimately awful last year (234th in offensive efficiency, 291st in eFG%, 257th in turnover %). The defense still worked, though, and the Cavaliers finished the 2020 season on an eight game winning streak. Kihei Clark and Jay Huff return, and three-point sharpshooter Sam Hauser comes in to add a spark to this offense. If the offense takes a step forward, and the defense doesn’t regress, the Cavaliers could be back to being a real national title contender.

    7) Iowa (Projected Big Ten Winner)

Preseason player of the year Luka Garza gets all the headlines, but there is more to like on this team, from Joe Wieskamp to Jordan Bohannon. I still have some issues with the defense, which struggled last year, but if Garza plays at 2019-20 form and the Hawkeyes can take a step forward on the defensive end, they could contend for a title.

    8) Illinois

This is the year for Illinois. Ayo Dosunmu and Kofi Cockburn may be the best scoring duo in the country, freshman Adam Miller is a stud, and Brad Underwood is one of the best coaches in college basketball. Almost everyone is back from a 21-10 team, which is a recipe for success.

    9) Michigan State

Tom Izzo’s Spartans are often a surefire contender in the Big Ten, but Cassius Winston and Xavier Tillman are gone from a team that went 22-9 last year. However, some key pieces are back including Josh Langford. Marquette transfer Joey Hauser will help buoy the Spartans’ shooting. Don’t count Izzo out.

    10) Creighton

Villanova’s toughest competition in the Big East will be Creighton. The Bluejays return the awesome Marcus Zegarowski, and I expect Mitch Ballock to step into a much bigger role this year. This is a talented roster that could surprise some people.

    11) Florida State

The defending ACC champs feel like one of the most underrated teams in the country this year. Head coach Leonard Hamilton is great, and the incoming freshman class should provide some help to returnee MJ Walker, who was pivotal in the Seminoles’ success last season.

    12) Texas Tech

If anyone can challenge Tony Bennett for the title of the coach that gets the most of the players that they have, it has to be Chris Beard. The Red Raiders lose Jahmi’us Ramsey, but with newcomers Marcos Santos-Silva, Mac McClung, and Nimari Burnett, I expect Beard to have this team contending for a Big 12 title.

    13) Kentucky (Projected SEC Winner)

A trio of transfers: Olivier Sarr, Jacob Toppin, and Davion Mintz will bolster Kentucky’s incoming recruiting class, which is led by Terrence Clark and BJ Boston. The extreme turnover on the roster year over year prevent me from giving the ‘Cats a top-ten ranking, but the talent is there.

    14) West Virginia

Bob Huggins will contend for a Big 12 title yet again in 2021, as four starters are back from one of the best defensive teams in the country. Oscar Tshiebwe and Derek Culver are the leaders, and I expect the Mountaineers to surprise some folks this year.

    15) Oregon (Projected Pac-12 Winner)

Payton Pritchard is gone, but thanks to Dana Altman’s track record, I think Oregon remains a heavy favorite in the Pac-12. UNLV transfer Amauri Hardy is the name to watch, and a pair of other transfers plus JUCO player of the year Chris Duarte will bolster this squad.

    16) Michigan

I’m high on Michigan this year, mostly thanks to the fact that I love incoming freshman Hunter Dickinson. Isaiah Livers returns after a great defensive year that was cut short due to injury, and Wake transfer Chaundee Brown is another name to watch. This is a sleeper team in the Big Ten.

    17) Florida

Keyontae Johnson may be the best player in the SEC, the Gators also get back Scottie Lewis, Tre Mann, and Noah Locke. I expect UF to take a big step forward this year, especially on the defensive end, and for the Gators to challenge Kentucky in the SEC.

    18) Houston (Projected American Winner)

Kelvin Sampson’s Cougars looked poised to win the American yet again. Caleb Mills, Quentin Grimes, DeJon Jarreau, and Marcus Sasser make up one of the best two-way backcourts in the nation.

    19) Wisconsin

The Badgers won their last eight games to finish atop the Big Ten standings last year, and Nate Reuvers and D’Mitrik Trice are back for Greg Gard’s team. I’m a little skeptical of Wisconsin’s offense, but the talent is there and this is a surefire top-25 team.

    20) Ohio State

Chris Holtmann has a tendency to get something out of nothing, but he’s got something this year. EJ Liddell is a stud, senior CJ Walker is a certified leader, and the Buckeyes bring in a Cal transfer, Justice Sueing. This is a dark horse in the Big Ten.

    21) Texas

This is do or die time for Shaka Smart at Texas. Longhorn fans have not been pleased with his tenure thus far, but all five starters are back from a 19-12 team, not to mention the addition of awesome freshman Greg Brown. This team has tremendous upside.

    22) Purdue

Matt Haarms and Nojel Eastern are gone, but Trevion Williams feels like the type of guy that can step into a #1 role. A pair of good freshmen also join the Boilermakers to push the returnees, and Matt Painter is one of the best coaches in the business.

    23) Louisville

A lot is gone from last year’s group, but a pair of sophomores: David Johnson and Samuell Williamson, seem likely to take big steps forward for Chris Mack. Radford transfer Carlik Jones, who averaged 20 points per game last year at the low-major level will also be an important piece.

    24) Indiana

Eight Big Ten teams in the top 24 feels insane, but the conference is stacked this year. With freshman Khristian Lander and returnee Trayce Jackson-Davis, this is the year Archie Miller’s Hoosiers finally take a step forward.

    25) San Diego State (MWC Winner)

Malachi Flynn is gone, but much of the supporting cast returns from last season’s 30-2 group. Matt Mitchell is the key returnee, and CSUN transfer Terrell Gomez averaged close to 20 point per game last year. This will be one of the best mid-majors in the country again.

    Tuesday, November 17th

Buffalo (2-0 MAC) @ Bowling Green (0-2 MAC)
    7 PM ET, CBSSN
    Vegas Line: Buffalo -30

CSD Pick: Buffalo 40, Bowling Green 16

Akron (0-2 MAC) @ Kent State (2-0 MAC)
    8 PM ET, ESPN
    Vegas Line: Kent State -27

Akron is one of the worst teams in college football, but Kent State probably shouldn’t be a four touchdown favorite against anybody. The Golden Flashes went 2-10 just two short years ago, and I see Akron covering this monstrous spread on the road.

CSD Pick: Kent State 33, Akron 20

    ☆Crazy Sports Dude Best Bet Alert☆ – Akron +27

Northern Illinois (0-2 MAC) @ Ball State (1-1 MAC)

Toledo (1-1 MAC) @ Eastern Michigan (2-0 MAC)

CSD Pick: Toledo 30, Eastern Michigan 25

Western Michigan (2-0 MAC) @ Central Michigan (2-0 MAC)
    7 PM ET, ESPN2
    Vegas Line: Central Michigan -1

Two of the last unbeaten teams remaining in college football will square off Wednesday night in what may be a de facto MAC West title game. I like the CMU defense as the best unit on the field, with the home edge, to power the Chippewas to a win.

CSD Pick: Central Michigan 34, Western Michigan 29

☆Crazy Sports Dude Best Bet Alert☆ – Central Michigan -1

CSD Pick: Louisville 38, Syracuse 18

Purdue (2-1 Big Ten) @ Minnesota (1-3 Big Ten)
    7:30 PM ET, BTN
    Vegas Line: Purdue -3

Purdue’s two wins this year have been by a combined 11 points against Iowa and Illinois, I actually think that the wrong team is favored in this one. The Boilermakers’ run defense is suspect at best, and Mo Ibrahim is up there with the best backs in the country. Give me Minnesota outright.

CSD Pick: Minnesota 29, Purdue 28

    ☆Crazy Sports Dude Best Bet Alert☆ – Minnesota +3

    UMass (0-2) @ Florida Atlantic (4-1)

    Saturday, November 21st

    #9 Indiana (4-0 Big Ten) @ #3 Ohio State (3-0 Big Ten)

    12 PM ET, FOX
    Vegas Line: Ohio State -19.5

It has been a nice year for Indiana. A 4-0 start including wins against Penn State, Michigan, and Michigan State has led to a top-ten ranking for the Hoosiers, but Indiana will run into a tough test, with a road affair against #3 Ohio State. I like Indiana QB Michael Penix, but he’s not Justin Fields. Unfortunately for IU fans, I expect OSU to jump out to a big lead early and never look back. Give me the Buckeyes, big.

CSD Pick: Ohio State 39, Indiana 23

    #4 Clemson (7-1, 6-1 ACC) @ Florida State (2-6, 1-6 ACC) – CANCELED

    Appalachian State (6-1, 4-0 Sun Belt) @ #15 Coastal Carolina (7-0, 5-0 Sun Belt)

Illinois (1-3 Big Ten) @ Nebraska (1-2 Big Ten)
    12 PM ET, FS1
    Vegas Line: Nebraska -15

Illinois looked solid last week in an upset win over a decent Rutgers team. The Illini can’t throw the ball to save their lives, but the run game looked amazing, and they should be able to keep within 15 of a fledgling Nebraska team.

CSD Pick: Nebraska 31, Illinois 21

    ☆Crazy Sports Dude Best Bet Alert☆ – Illinois +15

    East Carolina (1-6, 1-5 AAC) @ Temple (1-5, 1-5 AAC)
    12 PM ET, ESPN+

CSD Pick: Temple 27, East Carolina 23

    Georgia Southern (6-2) @ Army (6-2)
    12 PM ET, CBSSN
    Vegas Line: Army -5

The wrong team is favored here. Both of these teams run the option well, they both have similarly rated defenses, the only difference is that Georgia Southern can actually throw the ball with QB Shai Werts. That flexibility leads me to pick Georgia Southern straight up.

CSD Pick: Georgia Southern 25, Army 24

☆Crazy Sports Dude Best Bet Alert☆ – Georgia Southern +5

    LSU (2-3 SEC) @ Arkansas (3-4 SEC)

    12 PM ET, SEC Network
    Vegas Line: Arkansas -1

These are both good teams that would probably have winning records if they played in the Big 12 or ACC, but have struggled against extraordinarily difficult schedules. Clearly, LSU is the more talented team, but Arkansas feels a lot more well-rounded, and LSU QB Myles Brennan is likely out for the year with an injury, not to mention COVID issues that the Tigers are likely to face. I expect Feleipe Franks to get the job done and for the ‘Hogs to get to four wins – something unfathomable in the preseason.

CSD Pick: Arkansas 32, LSU 31

Arkansas State (3-5, 1-4 Sun Belt) @ Texas State (1-9, 1-5 Sun Belt)
12 PM ET, ESPN2 (was ESPN3 at 2 PM ET)

CSD Pick: Arkansas State 33, Texas State 30

    UTSA (5-4, 3-2 C-USA) @ Southern Miss (2-6, 1-3 C-USA)
    3 PM ET, ESPN+
    Vegas Line: UTSA -8

CSD Pick: UTSA 29, Southern Miss 22

    #7 Cincinnati (7-0, 5-0 AAC) @ UCF (5-2, 4-2 AAC)

    3:30 PM ET, ESPN
    Vegas Line: Cincinnati -3

Despite the two losses, this UCF team is really good. That being said, they aren’t Cincinnati good. The Bearcats, desperate to stick their nose in the College Football Playoff discussion, have been blowing the doors off of their foes by seemingly bigger margins every week. Desmond Ridder has been excellent, especially the last four weeks, during which he has accounted for 17 touchdowns. Give me Cincy, covering the three points easily as they look to give the committee a good impression heading into the reveal of the first set of rankings on Tuesday.

CSD Pick: Cincinnati 40, UCF 34

    ☆Crazy Sports Dude Best Bet Alert☆ – Cincinnati -3

    #10 Wisconsin (2-0 Big Ten) @ #19 Northwestern (4-0 Big Ten)

    3:30 PM ET, ABC
    Vegas Line: Wisconsin -7

It has been a nice 4-0 start for Northwestern, I love the job that Pat Fitzgerald has done in Evanston, but this is still a Northwestern-style and Northwestern-caliber offense, even with Peyton Ramsey at the helm. Wisconsin has played to a borderline Alabama/Ohio State level so far this year, granted, in a two game sample size, but I’ve loved what I’ve seen from Graham Mertz and the Badgers thus far. Give me Wisconsin. Big.

CSD Pick: Wisconsin 30, Northwestern 21

    UCLA (1-1 Pac-12) @ Oregon (2-0 Pac-12)
    3:30 PM ET, ESPN2
    Vegas Line: Oregon -14

CSD Pick: Oregon 38, UCLA 24

    Middle Tennessee (2-6) @ Troy (4-3)
    3:30 PM ET, ESPN3
    Vegas Line: Troy -12.5

CSD Pick: Troy 33, Middle Tennessee 22

Iowa (2-2 Big Ten) @ Penn State (0-4 Big Ten)

    3:30 PM ET, BTN
    Vegas Line: Iowa -2.5

Can Penn State get a win on the board? For Nittany Lion fans, I sure hope so, but even at home, I don’t see James Franklin’s group picking up their first W of the year. The team seems unmotivated, and they run into a physical, hard-nosed Iowa team that may also just straight up be better. I’ll take the Hawkeyes to drop Penn State to 0-5.

CSD Pick: Iowa 24, Penn State 23

    San Diego State (3-1, 3-1 MW) @ Nevada (4-0, 4-0 MW)
    3:30 PM ET, CBS
Vegas Line: San Diego State -2

Hey, the Mountain West is getting a CBS game! That’s pretty cool. I think the wrong team is favored here, and for the excellent Carson Strong to lead Nevada to 5-0, but let’s just appreciate this moment a little – the Mountain West getting on national tv without Boise State, it is a big moment for the conference, so congrats to both of these schools.

CSD Pick: Nevada 27, San Diego State 26

    ☆Crazy Sports Dude Best Bet Alert☆ – Nevada +2

    Cal (0-1 Pac-12) @ Oregon State (0-2 Pac-12)
    3:30 PM ET, FS1
    Vegas Line: Cal -5.5

CSD Pick: Cal 27, Oregon State 22

    Kentucky (3-4 SEC) @ #1 Alabama (6-0 SEC)

    4 PM ET, SEC Network
    Vegas Line: Alabama -29.5

I like Kentucky a lot, but come on. Alabama rolls. The Tide are the best team in the country – although I would not be surprised if Notre Dame usurps them for #1 in the first College Football Playoff rankings when they are revealed on Tuesday.

CSD Pick: Alabama 45, Kentucky 19

    Kansas State (4-3, 4-2 Big 12) @ #17 Iowa State (5-2, 5-1 Big 12)
    4 PM ET, FOX
    Vegas Line: Iowa State -11

CSD Pick: Iowa State 30, Kansas State 22

    Abilene Christian (1-4) @ Virginia (3-4)
    4 PM ET, ESPN3
    Vegas Line: Virginia -35.5

CSD Pick: Virginia 40, Abilene Christian 11

    Virginia Tech (4-4, 4-3 ACC) @ Pitt (4-4, 3-4 ACC)

    4 PM ET, ACC Network
    Vegas Line: Virginia Tech -3

Both of these teams have been just shy of great seasons but have come up short in big games multiple times. I’m going to keep betting on Virginia Tech, despite the fact that it hasn’t worked out for me the past two weeks. The Hokies could easily be 7-1 right now, and even on the road, I expect the high-powered offense to be too much for Pitt to handle.

CSD Pick: Virginia Tech 31, Pitt 30

    Tennessee (2-4 SEC) @ #23 Auburn (4-2 SEC)
    7 PM ET, ESPN
    Vegas Line: Auburn -11.5

Vegas Line: San Jose State -2.5

CSD Pick: San Jose State 33, Fresno State 32

    Mississippi State (2-4 SEC) @ #13 Georgia (4-2 SEC)
    7:30 PM ET, SEC Network
    Vegas Line: Georgia -24

CSD Pick: Georgia 33, Mississippi State 13

    #14 Oklahoma State (5-1, 4-1 Big 12) @ #18 Oklahoma (5-2, 4-2 Big 12)

    7:30 PM ET, ABC
    Vegas Line: Oklahoma -9.5

Bedlam gets the primetime spot on ABC, as Oklahoma looks likely to effectively end the Big 12’s playoff hopes by handing Oklahoma State the Cowboys’ second loss of the season. I like the Oklahoma State defense, but Spencer Rattler and the OU offense has found their groove in recent weeks, and I don’t have faith in Oklahoma State, which scored just 17 last time out against West Virginia, to keep up. I’ll take the Sooners by double digits.

CSD Pick: Oklahoma 36, Oklahoma State 25

    #21 Liberty (8-0) @ NC State (5-3)

Missouri (2-3 SEC) @ South Carolina (2-5 SEC)

7:30 PM ET, SEC Network Alternate
    Vegas Line: Missouri -5

South Carolina has moved on from head coach Will Muschamp (Louisiana HC Billy Napier looks like the early frontrunner), and now they look to finish the season strong, beginning with a home game against Missouri. I’m not sure to expect from this one, often times you see a “dead cat bounce” when teams move on from their coach midway through the season, but South Carolina has also had to deal with some players leaving the team after the announcement. However, the energy of a coaching change, the home field advantage, and the fact that the Gamecocks are actually a very talented team leads me to pick them to pull the straight up upset here.

CSD Pick: South Carolina 26, Missouri 22

Michigan (1-3 Big Ten) @ Rutgers (1-3 Big Ten)
    7:30 PM ET, BTN
    Vegas Line: Michigan -7.5

Alright Michigan, this is your last stand. The Wolverines have beaten Rutgers by over 40 points on average the past few years, and they’re only laying 7.5 here. Against my better judgement, I’m pulling the trigger, give me the maize and blue.

CSD Pick: Michigan 34, Rutgers 17

College Football Playoff, New Year’s Six Bowl Projections Week 11 – NY6DIANA?

These projections are NOT if the season ended today, they are projected ahead to the end of the season

    GoodYear Cotton Bowl Classic

December 30th, 7:15 PM ET, ESPN
    Arlington, TX
    At-Large vs. At-Large
    Bowl Projection: Wisconsin vs. BYU

BYU will finish the year unbeaten, and they should receive a NY6 slot for that effort. The Cougars slide in nicely against a Wisconsin team that does control their own destiny to the CFP, but it seems like a tough task to get by Ohio State.

    Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl

January 1st, 12:30 PM ET, ESPN
    Atlanta, GA
    At-Large vs. At-Large
    Bowl Projection: Cincinnati vs. Florida

Florida controls their own destiny to the Playoff, but I don’t see them getting through Alabama. The Gators will have to settle for the highest ranking G5 champion, which seems virtually guaranteed to be Cincinnati

    PlayStation Fiesta Bowl

January 2nd, 4 PM ET, ESPN
    Glendale, AZ
    At-Large vs. At-Large
    Bowl Projection: Indiana vs. Oklahoma

As a P5 conference, the Big 12 champ, which I still expect to be Oklahoma, will get a slot in the NY6. They’ll face Indiana, who will likely drop games to Wisconsin and Ohio State, but does have an opportunity against the Big Ten West’s #2 during the conference’s championship week.

    Capital One Orange Bowl

January 2nd, 8 PM ET, ESPN
    Miami Gardens, FL
ACC vs. Big Ten or SEC
Bowl Projection: Notre Dame vs. Texas A&M

This is the only NY6 game this year with tie-ins, as an ACC team must face a team from the Big Ten or SEC. The loser of the ACC Title game will likely slot in here, as will Texas A&M, which I expect to be the second highest rated team out of the SEC.

    Rose Bowl (Semifinal)

January 1st, 5 PM ET, ESPN
    Pasadena, CA
    CFP vs. CFP
Bowl Projection: Ohio State vs. Clemson

Both of these teams will be significant favorites in each of their remaining games before facing tough competition in their respective title games. I expect each to get through unscathed.

    Allstate Sugar Bowl (Semifinal)

January 1st, 8:45 PM ET, ESPN
    New Orleans, LA
    CFP vs. CFP
    Projection: Alabama vs. Oregon

Watching another week of Pac-12 football has made it very clear that Oregon is likely to go undefeated and win the conference, and I can’t see the committee leaving out an unbeaten P5 champ.

    College Football Playoff National Championship

January 11th, 8 PM ET, ESPN
    Miami Gardens, FL
    Projection: Ohio State vs. Alabama
    Pick: Alabama
