Texas (2-2) vs #20Oklahoma (2-2) (Dallas, TX) – 12PM ET, FS1

Texas had a poor showing against Oklahoma State last week… The defense fell apart, but it’s been bad all year, allowing an average of 47 points vs power 5 opponents. So Charlie Strong took matters into his own hands and gave himself control of the defense in a move no one was expecting heading into this Red River Rivalry. The problem with that is, how much difference can he make in a week? Oklahoma has rebounded from the 1-2 start, taking care of business vs TCU last week. The passing attack especially has been good for the Sooners, and I would expect QB Baker Mayfield to throw all over a Texas secondary that is among the worst in the power five. I’m taking Oklahoma in this one.

The Pick: Oklahoma

LSU (3-2) @ #18Florida (4-1) – 12PM ET, ESPN

This game has been postponed without a rescheduling date announced.

#25Virginia Tech (3-1) @ #17North Carolina (4-1) – 3:30PM ET, ESPN2

You’ve got to give credit to North Carolina for their win last week against Florida State. They went on the road, a team on the fringe of the top 25 and upset a team that was near the top 15. This week that role is flipped. They are at home, near the top 15, going against a fringe top 25 team. The passing game has been terrific for the Tar Heels, and if Lamar Jackson wasn’t out of this world, Mitch Trubisky could be a heisman contender. But Virginia Tech has an elite defense, one of the best in the country, and on top of that, they’ve had two weeks to prepare for the Tar Heel passing attack becuase of their bye week. I’m taking Virginia Tech to pull a big upset here, and send the ACC Coastal race into dissaray.

#9Tennessee (5-0) @ #8Texas A&M (5-0) – 3:30PM ET, CBS

Tennessee is a team that I had a lot of confidence in coming into the season. I had the Volunteers in my preseason projected college football playoff. But since, it’s been a mixed bag for Tennessee. They struggled with mid-majors Appalachian State and Ohio, but they also have three wins over teams that have been ranked. As for Texas A&M, they have won three SEC games already, all of which were away from home. The offense of the Aggies, led by Trevor Knight and an explosive run game, will do fine. But the big mismatch is on the defensive side of the ball with furture NFL Star Myles Garrett at D-End heading up a stout run defense, and with Tennessee’s starting runningaback Jalen Hurd injured, the Vols will have to turn to their passing game. I don’t have the confidence in Josh Dobbs to get it done. Tennesee has won games on a recovered fumble into the endzone and a hail mary, but this is where the luck runs out.

The Pick: Texas A&M

#1Alabama (5-0) @ #16Arkansas (4-1) – 7PM ET, ESPN

I know I’ve wrote about this before, but why is Arkansas ranked so high? In my top 25 the Razorbacks are ranked, but just barely. They’re hanging for dear life at my #24 spot. I feel that the Razorbacks have been much too credited for the win vs TCU, just because it was really the only notable matchup in week 2. TCU isn’t even that good, they lost to Oklahoma last week, and they nearly lost to South Dakota State in the season opener. Other than that, Arkansas has blown out 2 noobody schools, got blown out by Texas A&M, and squeaked by a bad Louisana Tech team by 1. Anyway, if you couldn’t tell, I don’t have too much confidence in Arkansas to beat the most talented team in the country in Alabama. I think the tide roll into Tennessee next week undefeated.

The Pick: Alabama

#23Florida State (3-2) @ #10 Miami (FL) (4-0) – 8PM ET, ABC

This game will go on as scheduled despite Hurricane Matthew. The storm will be gone from the area by then. Florida State is a team that’s defense was supposed to be one of the best in the country, but it turns out the best defense in the state might actually be the rival Miami Hurricanes. They’ve done well against everything, from passing attacks to Georgia Tech’s triple option. Florida State just won’t be motivated, they’re chances for an ACC Title are basically gone. They’d need to run the table and have Louisville and Clemson lose again, none of which seem likely. Miami hasn’t played anyone that great this year, but the offense has looked fantastic, and I expect that to hold up here vs FSU.

The Pick: Miami (FL)
