COLLEGE FOOTBALL PICKS WEEK 6

Welcome back College Football, I missed you. I am so excited for this season to start. Last year I took on Phil Steele’s College Football Picks challenge, and defeated arguably the greatest mind of College Football Analysts with a 116-34 record compared to Steele’s 111-39. This year I will take on the challenge again. Last week I called some upsets that didn’t go through and went 6-4 compared to Phil who went 7-5 and increase his lead on my to three games.

Me:                 38-12 (76%)

Phil Steele: 41-9 (82%)

Wisconsin Badgers at Nebraska Cornhuskers

3:30 PM ET, ABC/ESPN2

This will be a big game in determining the Big Ten West title. Last week Nebraska lost another heartbreaking game which has been the theme for the Cornhuskers this year. Wisconsin is coming off a home lose to Iowa where the Badgers were destroyed by turnovers. Nebraska will have the home crowd on their side but I think a more experienced Wisconsin team, despite injuries,  will emerge victorious in the end.

The Pick: Wisconsin

South Carolina Gamecocks at No. 7 LSU Tigers

3:00 p.m. ET, ESPN

I’m starting to get a little doubtful of LSU despite the fact that I moved them into my top four last week, the only reason I did that was because teams  #3,4,5, and 8 all lost last week. Also please note that there is a difference between rankings and a top four. In a top four you judge teams on how they play and that alone not preseason bias (cough, TCU/Ohio State, cough) As for this game, South Carolina hasn’t impressed at all this year, the Tigers roll.

The Pick: LSU

No. 21 Oklahoma State Cowboys atWest Virginia Mountaineers

7:00 p.m. ET, ESPN2

While Baylor and TCU have gotten all the attention, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State (and West Virginia to some degree) have been silently floating under the radar. This could be a “Battle for Fourth” game, and a game that could end Oklahoma State’s underdog College Football Playoff dreams. The Cowboys won two back to back close ones but I think on the road in Morgantown, the Mountaineers play spoiler.

The Pick: West Virginia

Duke Blue Devils  at Army Black Knights

12:00 p.m. ET, CBSSN

Duke is on the outskirts of the Top 25 and have had a solid 4-1 start to the year, the only loss being to #13 Northwestern, while picking up a quality win in Georgia Tech. This will be Army’s toughest test yet, The Black Knights are 1-4 on the year including A LOSS TO FORDHAM YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT. Fordham, who lost to Villanova, who lost to Penn, who lost to Dartmouth, who lost to OK YOU GET THE IDEA!

The Pick: Duke

No. 19 Georgia Bulldogs  at Tennessee Volunteers

3:30 PM ET

These two teams find themselves in a battle for second to Florida in the SEC East. Tennessee is coming off a loss to Arkansas where the Volunteers run defense was exposed. Georgia is coming off of a absolute embarrassment to Alabama. I think that Tennessee will find a way to stop Nick Chubb and a “World’s Largest Cocktail Party”  SEC East Title game.

The Pick: Tenessee

Navy Midshipmen at No. 15 Notre Dame Fighting Irish

3:30 p.m. ET, NBC

Navy proved me wrong last week and the triple option attack ran right through Air Forces defense (That’s right I opened with Navy because I can do what I want.) Notre Dame cost themselves the game last week against then #12 Clemson in what was a sloppy game for both teams. To pull out a stat Phil Steele loves, Notre Dame out gained Clemson by over 130 yards but ended up giving the game away with turnovers and drops. Despite that, Notre Dame rolls by 17 or so.

The Pick: Notre Dame

New Mexico State Aggies at No. 14 Ole Miss Rebels

12:00 Noon ET, SEC Network

This will be a slaughter.

The Pick: Ole Miss

No. 3 Baylor Bears at Kansas Jayhawks

12:00 PM ET, Fox Sports 1

Copy and Paste from last prediction

The Pick: Baylor

No. 13 Northwestern Wildcats at No. 18Michigan Wolverines

3:30 PM ET, BTN

This is a very interesting one. I have been low on both of these teams and both of these teams are starting to really grow on me. This should be one of the best games this weekend. The Volverines are favored by 8 points in this game which seems a little high to me. Northwestern has beaten Stanford and Duke, who have the Wolverines beaten? Maryland? Oregon State? some real power houses there. I have one of the nation’s 20 undefeated teams improving to 6-0.

The Pick: Northwestern

No. 11 Florida Gators at Missouri Tigers

Missouri has been one of the most disappointing teams this year but I was smart enough to jump off that bandwagon before it became a flaming pile of wood. Phil Steele and I differ on three games already and this will make it four which means it is possibly to tie up the score. Florida just needs to be careful not to be caught in the same position they caught Ole Miss in last week, coming off of a big win.

The Pick: Florida
