COLLGE FOOTBALL PICKS WEEK 7

Welcome back College Football, I missed you. I am so excited for this season to start. Last year I took on Phil Steele’s College Football Picks challenge, and defeated arguably the greatest mind of College Football Analysts with a 116-34 record compared to Steele’s 111-39. This year I will take on the challenge again. Last week I called some upsets and went 2-2 on the up breaking even, holding a 3 game deficit.
Me: 46-14 (77%)
Phil Steele: 49-11 (82%)
Purdue Boilermakers at
Wisconsin Badgers
Noon ET, Big Ten Network
Wisconsin has dominated this matchup in years past, winning 9 straight against the Boilermakers of Purdue. In Wisconsin’s last game they lost a close one to Iowa in a game that the Badgers really deserved to win. Wisconsin will come out angry and RUN the ball to victory at home to pick up a key Big Ten win for the future.
The Pick: Wisconsin
No. 8
Florida Gators at No. 7
LSU Tigers
7:00 p.m. ET ESPN
Florida is back. After three close wins to start the year, then #3 Ole Miss came to Gainsville and Florida destroyed the Rebels, 38-10. Last week they went on the road and beat two time defending SEC East Champion Missouri. On the other hand LSU hasn’t really faced anyone of real note yet outside of a 21-19 road win over Mississippi State. This game was REALLY tough to call but at the end of the day…
The Pick: G-E-A-U-X Tigers (LSU)
West Virginia Mountaineers at No. 2
Baylor Bears
Noon ET, FOX
West Virginia disappointing me last week when I called a upset vs Oklahoma State. I have no confidence in the Mountaineers to get a win over the best offense in the country on the road. Baylor will be out for revenge, as West Virginia cost Baylor a College Football Playoff berth last year, giving the Bears their only loss of the year.
The Pick: Baylor
Missouri Tigers at
Georgia Bulldogs
7:30 p.m. ET, SEC Network
Last week I called both of these teams losses, Missouri to Florida and Georgia to Tennessee. Both of these teams needs a bounceback win. Something has got to give. Missouri will keep it close for a while but will fall to Georgia in the end, basically being eliminated from the SEC East contention.
The Pick: Georgia
Nebraska Cornhuskers at
Minnesota Golden Gophers
3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN2
Nebraska is just a few plays away from being 6-0, yet they only have a 2-4 record with some help Nebraska has a really good shot at making a bowl game despite a bad start. Minnesota on the other hand are a few plays away from being 1-5 but they are 4-2. I have the Cornhuskers on the road.
The Pick: Nebraska
No. 7
Michigan State Spartans at No. 12
Michigan Wolverines
3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN
Michigan State has been EXTREMELY disappointing this year to me. The win over Oregon wasn’t as big as we thought at the time. And in back to back weeks the Spartan won very close ones over Purdue and Oregon. I think that Michigan will pick up a win here in addition to Florida, are the major powers back?
The Pick: Michigan
Eastern Michigan Eagles at No. 22
Toledo Rockets
Noon ET, ESPN3
Toledo is ranked for the first time since 2001 and cruised to a victory over Kent State last week. The Rockets look to be a prime contender for the Group of 5 major bowl bid. Last week Eastern Michigan got blown out by Akron. I have the Rockets by 3 or 4 touchdowns.
The Pick: Toledo.
No. 17
Iowa Hawkeyes at No. 20
Northwestern Wildcats
Noon ET, ABC
Northwestern got destroyed by Michigan last week. Iowa beat Illinois last week. This should be a fun matchup between two Big Ten title contenders. The home team has won five straight but I’m going to pick against that. Iowa win by 10.
The Pick: Iowa
No 10
Alabama Crimson Tide at No. 9
Texas A&M Aggies
3:30 p.m. ET, CBS
In a SEC West showdown Alabama travels to Aggieville to take on the unbeaten Texas A&M. The Aggies are coming off of wins against Arkansas and Mississippi State, but the Crimson Tide fail to disappoint, especially on a big stage like this. Alabama’s D finds a way to stop the Spread and the Crimson Tide wins, leaving LSU as the frontrunner in a jampacked SEC West, for now.
The Pick: Alabama
No. 3
TCU Horned Frogs at
Iowa State Cyclones
7 p.m. ET, ESPN2
TCU better stop playing with fire or they are going to get burned soon. 3 weeks ago the Horned Frogs needed a miracle tipped pass to defeat struggling Texas Tech. Just last week TCU trailed Kansas State 35-17 at the half before storming back to win. I don’t think this one will be so close.
The Pick: TCU
