STEP UP TO THE PLATE FEATURING JOHN FARRELL’S KEYS TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP (HOW THE SOX WON IT ALL)

Recently I was fortunate enough to participate in an event called step up to the plate in Charlottesville with the preseason #1 Virginia Baseball team with guest speaker John Farrell and something that Farrell said repeatedly was that it wasn’t one guy. And that is true, the Red Sox had multiple guys contributing game in and game out, and you need that. Another thing was the lockerroom chemistry if all your guys enjoy playing with eachother and no one is full of himself things go a LOT smoother because you have less off the field distractions. The 3rd piece Farrell said was that the team had the confidence that even though they wern’t the most talented team they put in the work and became the best team in the MLB. Now with the moment of the night, the best story he told. The story begins with some Red Sox players in a cab and the cabbie is going really fast and Dustin Pedroia put’s his hand on the cabbie and says, slow down, do you know who’s in this car? And the cabbie’s like no I have no idea who you are and Pedroia says this is your 2013 World Series champion Boston Redsox! By the way this was in April, the World Series is in October, 6 months away. Either Pedroia can see the future or he and his team have enourmos amounts of confidence. Confidence is key to winning a title.
