THE LUCKY BREAK EVERY CFB PLAYOFF TEAM GOT

At one point or another every College Football Playoff team has had a lucky break that saved their season.
Michigan State
Well, this one is pretty obvious. With about 10 seconds left Michigan
was punting with a 23-21 lead on 4th down. All Michigan had to do
was to get the punt off and the Wolverines would win. Michigan State
didn’t even have a player back to field the punt. The clock would just
run out. However, the Michigan punter dropped the punt, didn’t have
knowledge to fall on the punt to stop the play. The ball bounced right
into Michigan State hands and with a bunch of blockers, it was
returned 40 yards for a miracle touchdown.
Oklahoma
TCU’s third string Quarterback, Bram Kohlhausen who had replaced Foster Sawyer as he threw three
interceptions led the Horned Frogs on a last minute drive down 30-23. Kohlhausen found Emmanuel Porter in the end zone, but on the road Gary Patterson decided to try and win the game and not play for overtime. The two point conversion failed, but if Kohlhausen who was playing the biggest snap of his life had decided to call an
audible with the wide open middle, we very well could have a very different final four.
Alabama
You may be wondering why a random miraculous play between Arkansas and Ole Miss made such
an impact on Alabama’s season. If this backwards Hail Mary hadn’t succeeded, Ole Miss would
have won the game, and the SEC West Title. That means Alabama wouldn’t have won the SEC or
even their own division. Seeing as the committee has never put a team in that wasn’t a conference
champion this could create some issues, the Tide could be left out.
Clemson
With Clemson up 8 on North Carolina
and just over 1 minute left to play the Tar
Heels recovered an onside kick, however
flags were thrown for a seemingly “Ghost
Offsides” The ball was given to Clemson
and the Tigers secured a playoff berth.
Had the penalty not been called the Tar
Heels could have drove down the field
and won the game.
