VIRGINIA SPORTS UPDATE: MIDSUMMER UPDATE

ROWING

2013 graduate Kristine O’Brien (2013 UVa graduate) and rising junior Lizzy Youngling will row for the US at the World Under-23 Rowing Championships. Rising senior Fiona Schlesinger will row for Great Britan, incoming freshman Hannah Osborne will try to win a gold for New Zealand.  O’Brien and Schlesinger will compete  in the women’s eight. Youngling will participate in the women’s double sculls and Osborne will row in the women’s quadruple sculls.

BASEBALL

Branden Cogswell and Derek Fisher will participate in the Cape Cod League all-star game which will be Saturday at 5:30 on FOX College sports, Nathan Kirby, Cameron Tekker and Kenny Towns competed in the New England Collegiate Baseball League and John LaPrise will compete in the Northwoods League all-star game 8:35 p.m. on Tuesday.
