COLLEGE FOOTBALL PICKS – PEACH, FIESTA, ROSE, SUGAR

Phil Steele: 104-33 (76%)

Me: 103-34 (75%)

Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl

Houston Cougars vs. Florida State Seminoles
Atlanta | Georgia Dome
Dec. 31, noon on ESPN

Boise State over Arizona, Boise State over Oklahoma, UCF over Baylor. Those are the three times we have seen a mid-major beat a power 5 school in a major bowl game. Can Houston up that number to 4?  I doubt it. Florida State could very easily be in the College Football Playoff. Houston is the champion of the American but they won’t be the champion of the Peach Bowl.

The Pick: Florida State

BattleFrog Fiesta Bowl

Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Ohio State Buckeyes

Glendale, Arizona | University of Phoenix Stadium
Jan. 1, 1 p.m. on ESPN

This game, along with the Rose Bowl are the “What could have been” bowls. Both teams were a play or two away from the College Football Playoff. Ohio State if Michigan State couldn’t make a long field goal at the end of a slugfest, and for Notre Dame, the Irish had a season riddled with injuries. I give the slight edge to Ohio State, the Buckeyes blew out Michigan in their final regular season game, and Notre Dame is coming off of a loss.

The Pick: Ohio State

Allstate Sugar Bowl

Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. Ole Miss Rebels
New Orleans | Mercedes-Benz Superdome
Jan. 1, 8:30 p.m. on ESPN

This is the only one of the Power Six bowl games that feels like it just doesn’t belong. I’d have rather seen the Russell Athletic Bowl featured here but I digress. Because of how little respect this game is getting it will probably be one of the best games of the year, Oklahoma State was 10-0 and looked to be moving to the top 4. Ole Miss beat Alabama but has since lost to Memphis and Arkansas. I’ve got Ole Miss in a close one because of Laremy Tunsil and the big boys up front.

The Pick: Ole Miss

Rose Bowl Game Presented by Northwestern Mutual

Stanford Cardinal vs. Iowa Hawkeyes
Pasadena, California | Rose Bowl
Jan. 1, 5 p.m. on ESPN

This is the absolute best bowl game outside of the semifinals. The classic Big Ten vs Pac 12 matchup. #5 vs #6. When I was watching the Big Ten title game I saw something in Iowa, they didn’t win the game a stretch of the arm on 4th down kept the dream alive for Michigan State. The Hawkeyes shouldn’t be dissapointed about missing out of the playoff because a 13-1 year would be the best in history.

The Pick: Iowa
