COLLEGE FOOTBALL PICKS WEEK 4

Welcome back College Football, I missed you. I am so excited for this season to start. Last year I took on Phil Steele’s College Football Picks challenge, and defeated arguably the greatest mind of College Football Analysts with a 116-34 record compared to Steele’s 111-39. This year I will take on the challenge again. This year has started off on a good note for me but Phil Steele has started off on a GREAT note. I need to improve my record this week to stay in the game.

Me:                 22-8 (73%)

Phil Steele: 26-4 (87%)

Mississippi State Bulldogs at Auburn Tigers

This year I didn’t jump on the Auburn bandwagon and picked the Tigers to finish a reasonable third (as did Phil Steele) in the SEC West compared to the Media which picked them to win the league. It hasn’t turned out so well for Auburn as Jeremy Johnson (former Heisman Contender) has looked poor and was benched and the defense has struggled. Mississippi State on the other hand has exceeded expectations and played LSU very tough. Look for Auburn to go full out to try and get the win here in a must win game but fall short thanks to poor quarterback play.

The Pick: Mississippi State

No. 25 Missouri Tigers at Kentucky Wildcats

The Missouri Tigers dropped three spots in the polls this week for struggling to put away a poor U Conn Team, the Tigers got a 9-6 win at the end of a sloppy, sloppy game. The Wildcats are actually favored here after beating South Carolina and playing Florida really tough. Unlike in the last paragraph look for the team that needs this win go al out and get the W.

The Pick: Missouri

Hawaii Rainbow Warriors at No. 22Wisconsin Badgers

Hawaii has played better than any predicted this year including knocking off Colorado. Hawaii quarterback Max Wittek is overrated in my opinion, throwing just 5 Touchdowns to 4 Interceptions on the year. This game might be more of a blowout than Hawaii’s recent trip to Columbus as Wisconsin is trying to prove that the Big Ten is not a two-team league.

The Pick: Wisconsin

No. 19 USC Trojans  at Arizona State Sun Devils’

I told you so, I told you so, I told you so. No I did not pick the Trojans to lose in a shocking upset to Stanford but before the year began I was saying that the Trojans were overrated, and nearly picked Arizona over them in the South. Despite this I thought Arizona State could be a deep sleeper Playoff team and they have really disappointed. USC will take advantage of a weak O-Line and get their win back.

The Pick: USC

No. 8 LSU Tigers  at Syracuse Orange

Well this game should be, interesting… The LSU Tigers have been one team that have really jumped out at me at how good they are and the Tigers will be a contender in the east. On the other hand Syracuse is starting a walk-on at quarterback. We should see a lot of LSU’s second stringers in a blow out here.

The Pick: LSU

No. 9 UCLA Bruins at No. 16 Arizona Wildcats

UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen looked extraordinary Week 1 against Virginia but the past couple weeks he hasn’t impressed me as much. Arizona’s home crowd should be on point as College Gameday in town. Anu Solomon has also really impressed me for the Wildcats. My Prediction? In a high scoring, fun shootout type of game UCLA takes the win.

The Pick: UCLA

Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks at No. 12Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama just came off a extremely entertaining matchup against Ole Miss and this week the Crimson Tide will take out their wrath on a Louisiana-Monroe team that got murdered by Georgia earlier in the year. This should be a absolute blowout. The tide roll.

The Pick: Alabama

Vanderbilt Commodores at No. 3 Ole Miss Rebels

Ole Miss comes into this game against Vanderbilt averaging SIXTY-FOUR points per game. This is a sandwhich game which means a small game between two big ones. The Rebels can’t catch themselves looking ahead to Florida. If this was ANY other SEC team I would think about the upset but Vanderbilt hasn’t performed very well in the past….ever.

The Pick: Ole Miss

Massachusetts Minutemen at No. 8 Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Notre Dame is one of those teams that you keep thinking will slip up, but keep proving you wrong. Next week the Irish have a huge test in Clemson but I’m not sure many people are calling the upset here. And I’m not either Notre Dame improves to 4-0.

The Pick: Notre Dame

Western Michigan Broncos at No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State nearly blew a game against Northern Illinois last week. In my article last week I said that Northern Illinois would keep it close. This week I’m not so sure it will be so close. Ohio State confirms that they are number one with a BIGGG win here.

The Pick: Ohio State
