ACC Q&A

Q: Clemson or Florida State? Or is Louisville a sleeper in the Atlantic?

A: I actually have Clemson at #2 overall and Florida State at #3 overall in my NCAA 1-128 rankings, I gave the nod to Florida State as they have the game at home, although obviously it could go either way. The Atlantic is very top heavy as they have the three best teams in the ACC and the three worst, making it unlikely for an upset at the top which means Louisville won’t be able to slip into the title hunt.

Q: How do you sort out the Coastal?

A: It’s hard to, all the teams in the Coastal are very close to each other in my rankings, I could see Miami going from 1st to 4th or Virginia Tech going from 4th to 1st and anything in between. At the end it came down to UNC and Miami and I gave it to the ‘Canes because of the fact that Mark Richt is a proven coach with a proven quarterback in Brad Kayaa.

Q: Is the ACC the best conference for new hires?

A: Absolutely, I love all of the new hires in this conference. Both Virginia hires were great, although Bronco coming to UVa was surprising to me, and Justin Fuente is a perfect fit for VT. For the ‘Canes, Mark Richt going back to his alma mater is more than a good story, I think he can lead them to the ACC Title game in his first year.
