COLLEGE FOOTBALL WEEK 5 PICKS AND PREDICTIONS

Welcome back College Football, I missed you. I am so excited for this season to start. Last year I took on Phil Steele’s College Football Picks challenge, and defeated arguably the greatest mind of College Football Analysts with a 116-34 record compared to Steele’s 111-39. This year I will take on the challenge again.LAST WEEK I WENT 10-0! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Me: 32-8 (80%)
Phil Steele: 34-6 (85%)
No. 6
Notre Dame Fighting Irish at No. 12
Clemson Tigers
8 p.m. ET, ABC
College Gameday will be at Clemson for this matchup. Two weeks ago I picked Georgia Tech to upset the Irish. I lost my confidence in Notre Dame, who was on their Backup Quarterback and Third-String Running Back… But now I have officially jumped on the Notre Dame bandwagon, and a win here would jump them into my Top 4.
The Pick: Notre Dame
Air Force Falcons at
Navy Midshipmen
3:30 p.m. ET, CBS Sports Network
This matchup is between two service academies, who have a combined 5-1 record (The only loss being to Michigan State). This series has been full of upsets (8 of the last 12 years years have been upsets according to Phil Steele.) I will take Air Force who is coming straight off of a bye.
The Pick: Air Force
No. 23
West Virginia Mountaineers at No. 15
Oklahoma Sooners
Noon ET, Fox Sports 1
Both teams are 3-0 coming into today so this should be a fun one. Last year Oklahoma strolled into Morgantown and walked out with a win. The Sooners have also are coming off of a bye week and have faced a much tougher schedule than the Mountaineers up to this point. I’ll take Oklahoma in Norman.
The Pick: Oklahoma
Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. No. 5
Baylor Bears
3:30 p.m. ET, ABC/ESPN2 in Arlington, Texas (neutral site)
Last week Texas Tech played #4 TCU very close at home, and it took a tipped pass in the endzone with under a minute left for the Horned Frogs to stay unbeaten. Baylor has one of if not the best offense in the nation, averaging 64 points per game. Baylor hasn’t been destroyed by injuries like the Horned Frogs last week, I’m taking Baylor by two touchdowns.
The Pick: Baylor
No. 11
Florida State Seminoles at
Wake Forest Demon Deacons
3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN
Wake Forest is for sure improved from last year’s squad but this week they are going up against Florida State. The Seminoles haven’t proved themselves yet and probably won’t until they face Clemson. Wake Forest’s weakness is on the offensive line, if the Seminoles can expose that that will carry the ‘Noles to victory.
The Pick: Florida State
Hawaii Rainbow Warriors at No. 29
Boise State Broncos
10:15 p.m. ET, ESPN2
Both teams are coming off of very different Week 4’s. Hawaii got blown out by Wisconsin, and Boise State blew out Virginia on Friday Night (Yes that same Virginia Team that was 12 seconds away from beating the #6 team in the country, College Football is weird like that.) On a good note for Hawaii QB Brett Rypien has looked good, however this will be a blowout.
The Pick: Boise State
Arizona State Sun Devils at No. 7
UCLA Bruins
7:30 p.m. ET, Fox
DE Eddie Vanderdoes – OUT, LB Myles Jack – OUT and CB Fabian Moreau – OUT, yet somehow UCLA still finds a way to win. Last Week (As expected) The Bruins blew out a hapless Arizona. Arizona State was blown out by USC. This could be a blowout as well.
The Pick: UCLA
No. 21
Mississippi State Bulldogs at No. 14
Texas A&M Aggies
7:30 p.m. ET, SEC Network
Of all the games this weekend this could be one of the more interesting. If you told me Mississippi State only lost by two to LSU before the season started I would tell you your lying and then ask how you have my phone number. Dak Presscot has looked OUTSTANDING all year and I really went back and forth but decided to call the upset here.
The Pick: Mississippi State
Eastern Michigan Eagles at No. 9
LSU Tigers
7 p.m. ET, ESPNU
Trust me, this game will be fun to watch, Leonard Fournette against THE WORST run defense IN THE COUNTRY. This is going to get ugly and get ugly FAST. The tigers roll by about 40 points.
No. 13
Alabama Crimson Tide at No 8
Georgia Bulldogs
3:30 p.m. ET, CBS
For the first time in a long, long, long time Alabama is the underdog. It is their first regular season game as the underdog in the past SEVEN Years. As a long time UVa fan I studied Greyson Lambert A LOT and agreed with the decision when he was named the backup. Now he has transferred to Georgia and set the record for Completion % NEWS FLASH: THAT WAS AGAINST SOUTH CAROLINA which is one of the worst Pass D’s in the country. The kid struggled against Vandy.
The Pick: Alabama
