KERSHAW THROWS NO-HITTER

2 Cy-Young awards, 3 straight ERA titles, a 20-win season and now… a no-hitter to add to the list of Clayton Kershaw’s achievements. Kershaw dominated the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday, striking out 15 and allowing only one baserunner (a error by shortstop Hanlry Ramirez) as the Dodgers won 8-0. This is only the 2nd no-hitter of the year, Josh Beckett threw one in Phili on May 25th.”I am so amazed,” Kershaw said. “Beckett told me he was going to teach me how to do that, so I have Josh to thank.”

Kershaw (7-2) rung up his first 18 batters. “He had command of everything. I told him between innings: ‘It’s not fair when you have a devastating slider and a devastating curveball in the same night,'” catcher A.J. Ellis said. “And when he does that, nights like this are really possible.”

With a crowd of 46,069 on  hand Kershaw quickly made work of the Rockie batters in the 9th. DJ LeMahieu grounded out, Charlie Culberson flew out to right and Corey Dickerson struck out to end the game and secure the no-hitter.”I’ve seen some great pitching performances, but it’s tough to be any better than Kershaw,” Colorado manager Walt Weiss said.

After the game Kershaw’s teammates dumped two big buckets of gatorade on him. “I started tearing up out there in the ninth inning, just sitting out there catching and watching him throw after he got those first two outs,” Ellis said. “It was pretty special.  It’s something you never forget,” he added. “It’s a game I’ll watch on replays with my kids forever.”
