NFL RECAP WEEK 5

FALCONS AT GIANTS

Odell Beckham Jr. had 44 yards and the go-ahead touchdown in his NFL debut as the Giants beat the Falcons 30-20 on Sunday. “To be out this long and to have to deal with the adversity I have had, I just I have to thank God for giving me the opportunity to play and for allowing me to score in my first game,” Beckham said after scoring. “It’s just great to get that off your chest.” Fellow rookie Andre Williams, a runningback out of Boston College also scored a touchdown and ran 65 yards for the G-Men as they improved to 3-2 on the young season.

TEXANS AT COWBOYS

Dez Bryant came up big, well big doesn’t describe it, Bryant came up HUGE against the Houston Texans in overtime making an incredible catch over his defender to set up Dan Bailey’s game winning field goal from 49 yards out. Bryant had 9 catches for eighty-five yards and a touchdown as the Cowboys blew a 10-point lead but still managed to win. “We had to go down and basically win the game twice,” said Tony Romo who threw for 324 yards with 2 touchdowns and a interception. “You just put your work hat on and go out and execute.”

CARDINALS AT BRONCOS

Peyton Manning and the Broncos handed the Cardinals their first loss of the season on Sunday in a 41-20 drubbing of Arizona. Manning threw for 479 yards and 4 touchdowns, the first of which was his 500th in his career the only other quarterback to have over 500 touchdown passes? The legendary Brett Farve.  The milestone win was slightly overshadowed by a dirty chop block from Julius Thomas. “I’ve been coaching for 37 years, it’s the dirtiest play I’ve seen,” Arians fumed. “It was a flat chop block and put him out of the game. I know John Fox, great coach and great guy. Somebody has got to answer to that. A fine isn’t going to do it, when he’s going to miss three or four weeks, on a blatant chop block.”

 BENGALS AT PATRIOTS

Just six days after being obliterated by the Chiefs 41-14, Tom Brady and the Patriots silenced the doubters with a dominating win of their own in primetime over the last remaining undefeated. A 43-17 win over a Bengals team that many thought was the best team in the league. “It’s hard to be oblivious to things. We all have TVs or the internet or the questions I get and the emails that I get from people,” Brady said after throwing for two touchdowns and no interceptions  and breaking the 5,000 yard mark for his career. “Nobody died or anything. It’s just a loss, and I think we’ve always done a great job putting losses behind us quickly.”

SEAHAWKS AT REDSKINS

In 2012 the Seahawks and the Redskins had a battle in a matchup with two exciting young quarterbacks. Their paths have changed since, the Seahawks are Super Bowl Champions, and the Redskins got embarrassed in primetime for the second straight week in a 27-17 Seattle win in a game that was not as close as the score indicates.
