#11
Florida (6-1) @
Arkansas (5-3) – 3:30PM ET, CBS
Spread: Florida -4
After the loss to Tennessee early in the season many had wrote off Florida as a contender in the SEC East, let alone for the College Football Playoff, but sure enough, the Gators have won week in and week out, catapulting themselves into the playoff picture. Arkansas is coming off of a bye, and I think those 2 weeks of rest will play a big impact on this one. Florida has only won one game on the road this year, a scrappy, 13-6 win over lowly Vanderbilt. Until Florida can prove they can win on the road, I’m taking the team with two weeks rest at home. Pig Sooie. (Did I spell that right?)
The Pick: Arkansas 24, Florida 23
Iowa (5-3) @ #12
Penn State (6-2) – 7:30PM ET, Big Ten Network
Spread: Penn State -7
Both of these teams are overrated. Iowa is 3-2 in the Big Ten, but those three wins came against Rutgers, Purdue, and Minnesota. As for Penn State, I think the Nittany Lions are being given too much credit for their win over Ohio State, had it not been for a blocked field goal returned for a touchdown, they wouldn’t have won. Iowa is coming off of a bye, and will be off of two weeks of rest, but Happy Valley gives Penn State one of the top home field advantages in all of football. I think Penn State’s high powered offense gets the Nittany Lions off to a big start, and Iowa claws back in the second half, enough to cover, but not to win.
The Pick: Penn State 27, Iowa 24
#10
Nebraska (7-1) @ #6
Ohio State (7-1) – 8PM ET, ABC
Spread: Ohio State -16.5
You know, 16.5 is a pretty crazy spread for a game between two teams that are ranked 4 spots away from each other. Despite what the spread might imply though, this is a big game. Both teams control their own destiny to the Big Ten championship, and if Northwestern beats Wisconsin early in the day, then Nebraska will control their own destiny even with a loss. I get that Ohio State has been shaky over the past couple of weeks, losing to Penn State two wees ago, and almost losing to Northwestern last week, but Nebraska’s best win is against either 3-5 Oregon or Northwestern, a team that lost to Illinois State. Until Nebraska beats somone real, I’m taking the proven winners, and the Ohio State Buckeyes,
The Pick: Ohio State 35, Nebraska 23
#1
Alabama (8-0) @ #13
LSU (5-2) – 8PM ET, CBS
Spread: Alabama -7.5
The game of the week for week 10 pits the two most talented teams in the country. Alabama and LSU have year in and year out some of the best recruiting classes in the country, but under the leadership of Les Miles, LSU hasn’t been able to adapt to the offenses of today’s game. Until now, after Les was fired a new interim head coach was named, Ed Orgeron, and “Coach O” has the Tigers firing on all cylinders. Since Orgeron took over the Tigers blew out Missouri 42-7, blew out Southern Miss 45-10, and beat a good Ole Miss team by 17. But…. they’re no Alabama. The Crimson Tide are on a whole nother level than any team in the country. Bama has proved they can win on the road, blowing out Tennessee earlier this year. I think LSU will give Alabama their toughest game of the year, but the Tide will end up out on top.
The Pick: Alabama 31, LSU 27
