RECAPPING THE 4 FRIDAY SWEET SIXTEEN GAMES FT. KENTUCKY-LOUISVILLE

INDIANAPOLIS, IN REGION

8 Kentucky vs 4 Louisville

Let’s start, 14-5 Louisville and Montrezl Harrell goes coast to coast and finishes with the slam! But on the play Kentucky star freshman Willie Cauley-Stein had a “left ankle injury” and he would not return to the game. Let’s skip ahead to 2 minutes to play and Alex Poythress gets the and-one to go, and after the free throw we are tied.  Under a minute to play and Kentucky’s Aaron Harrison knocks down the 3 from the corner. Less than 10 seconds remaining, Louisville down 3, Cards ball and stepback three….FALLS SHORT! Kentucky wins! The 8 seed marches on to the elite 8!

11 Tennessee vs 2 Michigan

2 minutes to play and Jordan McRae drives and lays it in +1! That cut’s Michigan’s lead to 3. Then Tennessee’s McRae goes in full speed ahead and puts in off the glass, good! Vols down 3 now and McRae baseline, YES! The lead is down to 1! So Tennesse has to foul. They do, they foul Nik Stauskas, Stauskus makes one of 2 and the Vol’s have 2.1 seconds and McRae from half-court…NO GOOD! Michigan escapes Tennessee, 73-71.

NEW YORK, NY REGION

4 Michigan State vs 1 Virginia

Let’s start, 2nd half and Adreian Payne with the flush for the Spartans. Tied at 40 now but Travis Trice drains a 3 for Michigan State and MSU takes the lead! Then Payne with a baseline one-handed jam! Later, Payne from deep…YES! 2nd half now and Dawson gets the jam off an alley-oop, MSU goes on to win by 2.

7 Connecticut vs 3 Iowa State

Let’s start, 7 minutes in and UConn’s Ryan Boatright knocks down a 3 from the corner! 2nd half now and Shabazz Napier the alley-oop to DeAndre Daniels who lays it in off the glass and that gives UConn a fourteen point lead. But Iowa State would cut it 7, and to 4 with this 3 from downtown by Naz Long! But UConn matched every move Iowa STate tried to come back, it shows with a Niels Giffey three from the corner, UConn goes on to win by 5.
