TALK OF THE TOWN 12/22: GILDAN NEW MEXICO BOWL&ROYAL PURPLE LAS VEGAS BOWL RECAP

ROYAL PURPLE LAS VEGAS BOWL

20 FRESNO STATE 11-1 vs 25  USC 9-4 (LAS VEGAS)

Clay Helton the interim head coach for the USC Trojans after Ed Orgeron stepped down leading the Trojans onto the field against previously undefeated Fresno State (Lost to San Jose State on November 29th) in the Royal Purple Las Vegas bowl! Let’s start, 7-6 USC already and the Trojans QB Cody Kessler throws deep to a wide open Nelson Agholor for a 40 yard Touchdown! Then, 2nd quarter and Kessler to the corner of the endzone… AND HE FINDS AGHOLOR FOR A TD! And that puts the Trojans up 2 possessions. Then Kessler hands it off to Javorius Allen who jukes Fresno defender LJ Jones and scores a TD! Late 1st half now and Kessler throws over the middle to Marqise Lee who outruns everyone for another USC TD, you get the idea, USC cruises to a 45-20 win. If you’re intrested Kessler’s numbers were: 22-31, 344 Yds, 4 TD, and a interception. If you care about the draft, NFL prospect Derek Carr had a terrible game, he was 29-54 with 216 yards, 2 scores and he gave the ball away once.

GILDAN NEW MEXICO BOWL

Washington State 6-6 vs Colorado State 7-6 (Albuquerque)

Let’s start, 2 and a half minutes in and Wazu QB Connor Halliday rolls and throws to the endzone…TOUCHDOWN! 28-13 Wazu now and Halliday finds Rickey Galvin for another score! It’ 35-13 but this game is FAR from over! Colorado State cut it to a 38-30 lead but after a fumble it’s wazu ball and Halliday finds Isiah Myers…TD! 45-30! 45-37 WAZU now but Colorado State has an opportunity to score because of a Washington State fumble and Kapri Bibbs of CSU runs it in, but they need the 2-point conversion to tie it and the Rams hand it off to Donnell Alexander who runs it to the left and scores! We are tied at 45! But then CSU kicking it off and Teondray Caldwell returning, taking it out from the 2 and he makes it to the 10,15,20,25…and he gets hit hard, fumbles it and Colorado State recovers! Thentime running out and CSU kicker Jared Roberts kicking a game-winning 41 yard field goal as time expires…GOOD! CSU wins 48-45! The key player for the Rams was probably Kapri Bibbs the running back, Bibbs had 27 carries for a hundred sixty-nine yards and 3 TD’s. In the loss WSU QB Connor Halliday had 37 completions in 58 attempts, 410 yards, an interception and a BOWL-GAME RECORD TYING 6 TD’s! WOW!
