UFC 175 RECAP

UFC 175 Main Card
Chris Weidman def. Lyoto Machida, unanimous decision (49-45, 48-47, 49-46)

It wasn’t easy for the American, but he went 5 rounds with Lyoto Machida

Ronda Rousey def. Alexis Davis, knockout (Round 1, 0:16)

That was like the quickest fight ever. Rousey hit Davis with a right-hander, then a knee, threw Davis onto the mat and started wildly throwing punches until Davis blacked out. After the match a reporter asked Rousey if she would fight at UFC 176. Dana White looked furious.

Stefan Struve vs. Matt Mitrione—CANCELLED

The fight was called off after Struve blacked out in the locker room.

Uriah Hall def. Thiago Santos, unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)

Hall came back from a tough first round, worked his jab and got the unanimous decision. On a more…grotesque note Hall’s bone came out of his toe and for a picture go to: twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA/status/485622414382866433/photo/1

Russell Doane def. Marcus Brimage, split decision (29-28, 28-29, 30-27)

It was a close fight, no question about it but I think Brimage was the clear winner, the fact that one of the judges scored all 3 rounds for Doane makes me scratch my head.
Fox Sports 1 Prelims
Urijah Faber def. Alex Caceres, submission (Round 3, 1:09)

Both fighters needed this fight. Faber dominated most of the match and when he locked in the choke it was all over.

Kenny Robertson def. Ildemar Alcantara, unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-26)

This was the 5th upset in a row and was a one-sided affair, Robertson dominated with his wrestling game, takedowns, and ground and pound style.

Bruno Santos def. Chris Camozzi, split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

This was the closest match of the night, Santos came back from a tough 1st round to win after a bunch of takedowns gave him the advantage.

Rob Font def. George Roop, TKO (Round 1, 2:19)

Rob Font’s UFC debut couldn’t have gone better. The big right hand that ended the match was flat-out nasty.

UFC Fight Pass Prelims
Luke Zachrich def. Guilherme Vasconcelos, unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

Zachrich, a TUF alum dominated Vasconcelos in the Brazilian’s debut with a series of jabs and bodyshots,

Kevin Casey def. Bubba Bush, TKO (Round 1, 1:01)

Bubba Bush’s UFC debut didn’t go how he would’ve liked, Casey dominated with a series of repeated elbows. Great performance by Kevin Casey.
