VIRGINIA SPORTS UPDATE JULY 29

MEN’S TENNIS

Former Virginia Men’s Tennis player  Somdev Devvarman (Class of 2008)has qualified for the citi open, his match will be on Monday, the same day UVA’s Men’s Tennis national championship winning team will be honored.

ROWING

Virginia Rowing rower Kristine O’Brien (class of 2013) received a gold medal in the Women’s 8 at the U-23 World Rowing Championships. Her team (USA) finished with a time of 6:16.81. Rising senior Fiona Schlesinger (will-be class of 2014) won a silver with the Great Britan women’s eight earning a time of 6:19.15.

SWIMMING AND DIVING

Former UVa Swimmer Matt McLean (class of 2011), finished 13th in the men’s 400-meter freestyle with a time of 3:49.74 for the U.S.. Katya Bachrouche (Leabon, Class of 2011) placed 27th in the women’s 400m free in 4:20.46.
