VIRGINIA SPORTS UPDATE JUNE 1

WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD
Mark Amirault, Sean Keveren, and Catherine White were named to the Capital One Academic All-District teams they are now eligible to win all-america academic honors. Amirault specialises in the 5000M. Keveran and Wtite speciailze in the 1000M. Amirault will be participating in the NCAA championship in Eugene,Oregon.

FOOTBALL

Philip Sims will no longer be enrolled in UVa (so he can’t play football) for academic issues.

BASEBALL
UVa will play Elon at 6PM on Saturday less than 1,000 tickets are left go to  the ticket booth at Davenport field (opens at 11AM) to get your tickets. I will be in attendence for the 6PM game (not the 1pm game SORRY!) UNC-Wilmington will face Army in an Elimination game at 1PM.

BASEBALL
UVA beat Army 2-1 yesterday in a quiet game for bats. Only 3 runs scored total one of the highlights was when Kenny Towns hit an RBI triple. Waddel pitched well for the Cavs; picking up the win to improve to 6-2. He pitched 7 innings allowed only 3 hits and 1 run.Waddel struck out 8 and didn’t walk a single batter. Kyle Crockett had the Save his 11th of the year he pitched 2 innings struck out 4 and allowed 2 hits.

ROWING

UVa rowing advanced three boats to the semifinals. Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 finished 1st in their heats. 2nd varsity 8 finished 2nd in their heat to advance to the semis.
